The 1970’s called. They’d like their outfit back please.
First off, lets deal with the ‘elephant in the room’ first: new clogs! After much deliberation and my usual wishy-washiness, I decided to sell the beautiful clogs I received from Sandgrens. In the spring they kindly allowed me to pick the clog of my choice, and after seeing the slingback style on a few others, I opted for a pair. When they arrived, they were beautiful and I loved them, but this little tiny voice wondered about how they fit the width of my foot.
Lesson Learned:
Looking back, I should have returned them for a different style.
Those little tiny voices that pop in your head when you’re first assessing a new item, give them room to breathe! Don’t stamp them out so quickly (unless they’re telling you to ‘buy ALL the things’). They are like tiny red flags, and it’s so easy to brush them away in the excitement of something new. Instead, I should have given my doubts a little more credence and entertained them longer before making my final decision. I was initially concerned that my foot might be too wide for this style of shoe. I thought I’d get used to it, or that the shoe would possibly stretch to fit a little better. Sadly, neither were true! I found myself a little self-conscious and was opting not to wear the clogs. They were great shoes, and Sandgrens does an amazing job with their clogs, this particular style just didn’t work for my feet.
Thankfully Poshmark came to the rescue. I was able to sell my beautiful clogs and purchase another pair I’d had my eye on over at Lotta From Stockholm. I think the clogs Lotta sells are slightly wider and just fit my feet better. The traditional clogs I bought from them are some of my most comfortable shoes. This style, called Moheda Betty High, is by a different clog maker, but sold through Lotta. The craftsmanship on this pair is much better than the first pair I bought which was made under the Lotta label.
If I wasn’t trying to stick to a budget, I might have kept the Sandgrens clogs and purchased additional clogs, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’ve shared many times how much I suffer from ‘decision paralysis’ and keeping both clogs would have only added to that for me. Now, I still only have two pairs of heeled summer sandals, one black and one tan. Fewer choices = less stress for me.
Back to the 1970’s.
I am not really into era-style dressing, but something about the 1970’s in the summer just feels good. (My mom is probably chuckling right now.) I am definitely inspired by LoupNYC and they totally have that 70’s vibe down. Chopping off these jeans was one the best choices I’ve made in my closet lately. I am wearing them 200% more often (if that’s even possible). They are my go-to summer pant. They are soft, stretchy, and the wide legs are nice and breezy. I’m so glad I chopped these babies, or they’d just be gathering dust on the hanger.

I just ordered a pair of clogs from Lotta yesterday. So it’s good to know they are comfortable! I love the stripe top. Very summery!
Thanks Andrea!
I hope you like your clogs – let me know! Which ones did you get?
I bought Highwood Brown Nubuck clogs (? That’s what the invoice says). I’m on the fence. They are comfortable but when I walk it kind of feels weird that the bottom of the shoe isn’t flat (if that makes any sense). I feel a bit like I’m wearing ski boots where the toe doesn’t hit the floor when you step. I haven’t decided whether to keep them or return them. I just keep wearing around the house!
Hmmm, if you don’t love them, maybe you should send them back??
Lesson learned! I’ve definitely been guilty of ignoring the tiny voices too. Also, I’d love to know your Poshmark name, you have a great closet!
Hey girl! My poshmark name is @andreamc3
Listen to those little voices, I promise it will get easier! ;)
Sometimes you never know with shoes. I have had pairs that stretch nicely and become my most comfortable shoes in the closet after the first few weeks of discomfort, but I’ve also had pair that didn’t budge. I love the new ones you picked up! That top is very flattering on you, too! Really shows off those nice shoulders! :-)
Ha! Thanks Rebecca! ;)
Hey I’m serious! :-) Looking good!
I’ve been thinking about getting a pair from Lotta for the longest time, but I’m so worried about picking the wrong size since it’s UK sizing. I also really don’t want to have to send them back if they don’t fit – I’m the worst at returning online purchases. Do you find that they fit true to size?
Love this outfit!
Ugh! I know the feeling! And return shipping on clogs is not cheap I am sure! Thankfully Lotta does have a US return address to use if necessary.
So, Lotta sells their own brand of clogs and some other brands of clogs. I own a pair by Lotta, and a pair by Moheda. I ordered both in my regular euro size (41) and both fit. The lower-heeled Lotta clogs are roomier and the Moheda sandals are a bit smaller. I hope that helps!
Lotta is great about getting back to you with advice on what size to get. I have the orange peep toes and I bought the size advised and they fit well but will require some breaking in with socks first. (Normally a 40EU in Birkenstock and Sanita, that style in particular I needed a 39 as advised; they also give you an exact measurement of the length which I also found to be accurate.)
Ahh! So agree with like everything you said in this post. I totally struggle with listening to those little red flags and say, ehhh, I’m sure it’ll work out! when really I should rush back to the store with the receipt! I haven’t totally adopted a capsule wardrobe — more picked the parts that worked for me — mostly because I’ve never had a lot of clothes because we were always on the move. For years I could fit all of my clothes into a duffel bag (a large duffel bag, but a duffel bag, none the less.) Now that we own a house (I say “we” but I mean my parents ha) I’ve kept a lot of clothes around, plus now I shop for myself more and have a ton more spending money (and no bills, yet!) So I’ve taken on some of the rules, while not worrying about the number of actual items. What I’ve been really focusing on has been to learn to NOT spend money, NOT to buy that new shirt, just because it’s there. Without careful planning I regret decisions (about spending money) so fast.
Ah, anyway. Love this post! Clogs look fantastic!

I agree Lottie – soooo much comes down to planning in life, even clothes! You can make or break your wardrobe without it. Not to mention waste money. Good on you for making some great choices and sticking to your guns!
Judging by how much new-with-tags stuff we get at the thrift shop where I work, that “maybe it’ll work” delay affects a lot of people. They wait too long to return the item and then they have to donate it on.
I tried Lotta clogs a couple years back and I just couldn’t adjust to walking on wood.
Interesting and sad insights Leah! It’s crazy how spend-happy we be.
Yes, walking on wood is definitely an adjustment!
I am so bad about shushing those “little voices” – this post really helped. Always love your insight.
Thanks Stacy!! So much of this I never really fully think about until I ponder it when I’m writing, so it helps me too! ;)
Love this look! First time I’ve liked the cropped styles of jeans on anyone. Well done!
Thanks lady, I’ll take it! I must admit, I’m sort of addicted.
Hi
Recently found your blog and really enjoying your voice and style.

Hi Andrea, thanks so much for reading! Glad to have you. :)
If anyone needs an excuse to get clogs from Lotta’s store, the pound is at the lowest in years so you’ll get a great exchange rate. Even with shipping, it’s currently $10 cheaper than buying them on Amazon.
Yes!! So true! I noticed that as well when I ordered!
I so appreciate your honesty about an item you were gifted and giving a truly honest review several months later when it wasn’t just right. One of many reasons I love your blog!
Ahh, Teresa, thank you so much for the encouragement! I want to be real, and it helps that I tend to process things while writing about them, and often that’s what ends up published on the blog! X) Thanks for being a part of the little community here. :)
Looks fab! Love this outfit.
Thank you!! :)
