June 30×30, Days 12-15

I am starting to feel like I’ve exhausted all my pants combinations lately! The cooler temps have omitted a lot of my 30×30 pieces (skirts, jumpsuits, etc.) but I’m hoping that will change by next week. This go-round I really established how much I like knotted shirts – so flattering, practical, and (mostly) effortless. It’s a great way to add diversity to what you already have in your wardrobe.

Last Friday Lee wore some linen pants that made me re-consider my thoughts on that particular style. The shape is gorgeous and they seem perfect for the heat. On Saturday Paige gave me some serious striped dress envy. A wardrobe classic, right? Plus her glass of rosé… I’m so glad today is Friday…

Here’s a look at what I’ve been wearing.

DAY TWELVE:

It’s a tale of two outfits. I started the day in a dress and sandals. Our house runs warm so I was completely comfortable. But when I headed out for school pick up and some errands, brrrr! The temperature outside was 57 degrees! And because I’m always running late, I had no time to change, so out the door I went.

Later, when I headed out a second time to meet up with a friend, I was better prepared. Jeans under the dress kept me comfortable and stylish. I’m a big fan of this tunic look, and I would like to incorporate it more into my cold weather wardrobe.

Look One, Effortless Factor: 8 – This outfit is super easy to wear, but the hemline is a little short for my comfort. I put on a pair of bicycle shorts underneath, but it just feels like a lot of leg. I love this dress as a tunic though, so it’s definitely going to stick around in my closet.

Look Two, Effortless Factor: 9 Ta-da! Tunic time! Almost a 10, but I’m still perfecting my wedge walk.

DAY THIRTEEN:

I feel sort of like a grown up hippie in this look. These pieces – wide pants, rumpled linen top and the slouchy bucket bag feel like relaxed hippie pieces to me. I think it’s because they are challenging to many wardrobe norms. A wide, loose top in a world of fitted shirts. Wide pants that make flares look modest and rise to an unusual flood-like length. The Pons feel particularly hippie to me – maybe because they are sort of a different, unstructured shoe. But I think these pieces challenge their counterparts beautifully and I love how they came together here. I may just take up wearing patchouli.

Effortless Factor: 9 – Throughout the day I stopped tucking the top because it didn’t really stay tucked, and I ended up really liking the look of the wide hemline over the streamlined fit of the pants.

SHIRT: Only Child x Seasons + Salt Alta Top | PANTS: Jesse Kamm (I sized up) | PONS: c/o Avarcas Canada | BAG: Baggu

DAY FOURTEEN:

Where is summer?! I suppose I should be used to this by now. Yes, I am wearing a long, cashmere sweater for the second time in a week in the middle of June. I rebelled and still wore sandals.

I have owned this tank top for about two years, and I am really enjoying the fresh take on it this season by wearing it knotted. It’s nice and long, so the knot usually stays in place (with the exception of when I carried my tired boy a few times). These pants are such a nice change up from jeans and they’re super comfortable, really glad I finally pulled the trigger on them. I look forward to styling them in the fall with boots and hightop Cons.

Effortless Factor: 9.75! – No tugging, and a lot of feeling good. Just a quarter point ding for the few times I had to re-tie the knot.

TANK: Everlane | PANTS: Elizabeth Suzann (I sized down) | SWEATER: c/o Grana (sold out, try this option) | PONS: c/o Arvarcas Canada | BAG: Baggu

DAY FIFTEEN:

Another day of cool temps means more pants, this time topped with a rain jacket (not seen here). Some of you guys are sweating right now, and some of us are just trying to keep warm and dry, ha!

I think I’m having a moment with tied tops. This one I didn’t even have to re-tie. I love the versatility of button up tops, so many looks in one! Wear it open, wear it closed, wear it tied, wear it tucked.

Effortless Factor: 9 – Negative one point for the fact that I had to put socks and shoes on. I am ready to skip the feet-layering for a few months and live in Birkenstocks.

SHIRT: Everlane | JEANS: Vintage 501’s | SHOES: Cons (LOVE this ethical option) | TOTE: c/o Cuyana

Happy half-way point, friends! And cheers to the weekend!

  1. I love this series and the way you rank each outfit on “effortlessness.” A cute outfit doesn’t work if you feel like you have to fuss with it all day long. Reading your blog has helped me cut down on purchasing pieces that are difficult or uncomfortable to wear, no matter how cute they are or how well they work with the rest of my wardrobe.

    1. Yes! I am so thrilled to hear that Kathryn. :) It’s just not a good use of our resources if we don’t wear it right?? No one has time for a fussy outfit! ;)

  2. Such great looks! Thanks for the inspiration! You’ve encouraged me to get the Kamm’s in Street (just currently own the black). Love the casually chic style in these pics :)

  3. Another great couple of outfits!
I agree with you, I like that dress as a tunic a lot better. I can’t imagine it being long enough, especially with kids and a small dog (I have a five pound yorkie). That was probably my favorite look.
Our temperatures have dipped the last few days here too, so pants it has been for me too. I have been doing like you and wearing sandals. Today I probably should’ve worn sneakers lol.
I also really liked the vibe of the knotted everlane tank. Their stuff is just so good.
    Speaking of Everlane……..
Since I am doing 4 months of this 30×30 remix, and not shopping until after the baby is born, so not until September.
However, I did just get in the mail today the Everlane bridge sandals in the tan ( I am at work so hoping they fit/ are comfortable) and the 100% Human bag in the pride rainbow.
I used a credit so it’s not technically spending but it is shopping. LOL, That’s a thing right?
Anyways, have a great weekend. Hope your husband has a wonderful father’s day.

    1. The sandals are horrible. So disappointed!
They run super small and tight. Have zero support or cushion. Also they had a scuff/ mark/ indent on one.
I do not recommend the bridge sandals at all.
The only positive was the color is nice, and looks a lot lighter in person than the photo.

    2. Your pride bag sounds so cute! I love their offerings lately. I ordered something with an Everlane credit too. ;) A wallet, I’ve had the same one for the better part of a decade! Hope your man has a happy ‘first’ Father’s Day! xo

  4. Patchouli is a terrific scent. I wear (and have been wearing for years) the Karma perfume from Lush. Highly recommend it.

  5. I think I prefer the Only Child dress as a tunic, as well. It looks so good over those jeans with the longer layer over. I really struggle with short dresses, so if it’s not around knee length, I just can’t do it. I think my favorite is the ES pants, tank, and cardigan – such a great combo!
Hoping for some warmer days in your future – I want to see the rest of your choices in action!
    xo
