Here we go! Today kicks off the #SPRING10x10 hosted by the lovely Lee Vosburgh and Caroline Rector, along with Elizabeth Suzann. It’s a fun way to jumpstart the season, challenging us to mix and match with our favorite (or not-so-favorite) items.
HOW IT WORKS:
A 10×10 Style Challenge means selecting ten items from your closet, and wearing them for ten days, re-mixing them into creative, new looks. Outerwear is not included, nor are accessories. TIP: try to include at least one interesting or unusual piece to keep your creative juices flowing. This round, my creative piece is the dress. I’ve made the mistake of forgetting this element in the past and found my outfits got stale really fast, and my overall interest in the challenge waned.
GOALS:
– To learn how to style this black linen dress in new ways.
– To explore my wide leg uniform.
– To have ten days of super easy outfits.
– To connect with the wonderful community of friends who participate!
MY ITEMS:
This season I am following the lead of my pal Paige, who typically opts for 8 items, leaving 2 spots for rotating shoes. It was darn hard to narrow down my picks to just 8 items, but I did it, and I think it’s all going to work out. I jotted down some quick outfits in the notes app in my phone, and I am excited to see how they play out.
1 // Oatmeal Cardigan (M/L) Cuyana – I chose this as my ‘warmth’ item, and I hope it is enough! I like how this drapes close to my body, making it a great option to wear with wide leg pants.
2 // Rust Boxy Top (S/M), c/o Only Child – I chose this as my ‘color’ item, and I’m super excited about it. I hope to layer it in creative ways and bring new life to my neutral bottoms. Use code: ‘seasons10’ to save 10% at Only Child.
3 // Striped Tee, thrifted Ralph Lauren (very similar) – I chose this as my ‘pattern’ item to add visual interest. Plus, I really like this top and it goes with everything.
4 // White Button Up, Everlane (no longer available) – I chose this for the versatility. I also feel super at home in white tops, so I always need to have one in my 10×10!
5 // White Wide Leg Denim (28), c/o ABLE – I chose these because wide leg pants are my thing, and I can’t wait to build out new spring outfits with them.
6 // Navy Kamm Pants (6/M), – I just can’t quit these pants. They are so classy, interesting and sexy. I can throw on almost anything with them and have an instant outfit.
7 // Vintage Levi’s (very similar) – These are my style touchstone and I don’t like to spend time apart from them!
8 // Black Linen Dress, c/o Ode to Sunday – I am eager to experiment with styling this one. I’m thinking: jeans and clogs or tights and sneakers!? Use code: ‘Seasons+Salt15’ to save 15% at Ode to Sunday.
The last time I participated in a Spring 10×10 was two years ago! It’s always fun to look back over the archives and see what I learned through each exercise. I highly recommend recording your outfits (for yourself at the very least!) and jotting down your thoughts when the challenge in completed. You will be surprised to see how much you learn about styling yourself.
I am excited to see your outfits! I’ll be following along on Instagram using the #SPRING10x10 tag, and I’ll be searching for you! Feel free to leave a comment below if you’re participating, especially if you want to link your Instagram account!
Your linen dress is so pretty! I love how you styled it in your last post. I’ve been having a really serious Pinterest obsession with linen in general and linen dresses specifically. I think a linen dress will probably be the next purchase I make this year but I can’t quite nail down the one I want to get.
I’m joining in the 10×10 fun on the blog and on Instagram @curatedcassi! It’s only my second ever challenge, so I’m super excited to participate. This time around, I’m going for a secondhand theme to try and push myself to recommit to my New Year’s resolution to buy and wear more secondhand. Glad to see you included a thrifted shirt too :) Can wait to see how you style everything!
Oh man, love linen too! I am jealous of your warm weather Cassi. What a great idea, your commitment to wearing more secondhand, keep us posted!
Hi Andrea! I’m excited to try a Spring Made in America 10 x 10

I am a little apprehensive about a spring challenge because my clothes don’t feel particularly SPRING (in color, I mean–daffodils and blue sky). But I’m inspired by your choices and gonna give it a go!
Hi Ophelia! For some reason your link is not working…
I’m trying it for the first time! Two down and eight to go. :) Wish it was a few weeks later so it was warmer, but I’m giving it my best shot, lol. I’m @janetmmcnally over there.
Loving your outfits Janet! And so impressed that you write YA novels!!
