Closet Challenge |

June 30×30, Days 1-4

And we’re off and running with this 30 day style challenge! So far it doesn’t really feel a whole lot different from normal. I don’t really feel constrained yet when getting dressed. In fact, I have noticed the pared down closet makes me quicker at getting dressed, which has been really awesome. I tend to overthink things, and if I have anything significant going on a particular day, I hem and haw over whether my choice will be ‘right’ or not. With a shortened roster of players to pull from, my overthinking has been reduced. Yay!

Day One:

I really like this top. I’ve kept v-necks from my closet for far too long, and I forgot how a low v-neck goes a long way on a small-busted girl like me. I got 99 problems and cleavage ain’t one of them! Initially I thought I’d style this tank tucked in to show off my favorite jeans, but I was feeling sort of lazy and, it turns out, I really like it un-tucked. It’s a good reminder that just because you think you ‘should’ do something (like tuck a shirt), it isn’t necessarily always the only way to pull together a look.

SHIRT: Miranda Bennett Everyday Top in Noon (sadly, sold out! Love the white version) | JEANS: Vintage Baby! (these look pretty amazing) | SHOES: Ecuador Sandals in Burnt Sienna by Nisolo

DAY TWO:

This dress is a summer time favorite of mine! I wish I could find a similar to link for you guys, but I can’t. Everlane sold this a few springs ago, and it’s a really lightweight chambray fabric, perfect for hot days. I added Cons and a backpack to the dress to give it a playful vibe, and I love the result. Perfect for a chill Friday, and an evening event at my daughter’s school.

DRESS: Everlane, old | CARDIGAN: c/o IMBY (sold out) | SHOES: Cons (better version) | BACKPACK: c/o Everlane

DAY THREE:

Here they are, in all their glory! My KAMM pants. They are pretty amazing. I kind of feel like a hipster in them, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. They look modest in photographs, but they feel so BOLD in real life. I love them because they are so sturdy and that means I can wear the dickens out of them while I play with my kids. Also, this color is perfect for me because it is dark enough to hide dirt/dirty spots, but still overall a light color. I initially wanted the Tobacco color but, in the end, I decided a lighter shade was more what I was looking for.

The rise is so high! Higher than any other pant I own. But that’s what makes them look so good. I sized up and got an 8. I am not really sure if you could call it sizing up though because the 6 was pretty darn small on me (as in, hard to button!). These are quite comfortable, so I am glad I stuck with the bigger size.

I love this outfit 100%. The shoes, the shirt, the pants, I feel so me. It was an outfit that greatly reminded me how much I dress for myself, and not other people. Can’t wait to repeat this one!

SHIRT: Vintage, from hubby’s army days. (similar, in a women’s fit, or try the men’s!) | PANTS: Jesse Kamm in Street | SHOES: Ecuador Sandals in Burnt Sienna by Nisolo | BAG: Baggu | Bracelet: Fashionable

DAY FOUR:

Gotta wear these pants while the weather is still cool! On some level they remind me of all the Gap khakis I wore in high school, and I kind of love that. However, this outfit in its entirety did not go down how I envisioned. The poplin fabric on this top is a little too stiff for a front tuck and the outfit definitely felt fussy. It would have worked much better with a more drapey fabric.

Let’s talk about the shoes! My friends at Nisolo were kind enough to send these to me, and I’m excited to share them with you. Initially I was a little nervous because platforms feel sky high after wearing flats 24/7. But these are actually really comfortable! I was debating getting another pair of clogs before I got these, and I think on a hot day these will be a lot cooler because of the minimal straps. I’ve never had a shoe this ‘nude’ before and I quite like seeing my feet. Overall these felt great to stand on, and they are super easy to walk in too. However, they do not work for chasing a toddler (learned that one the hard way). I’ll probably reserve them mostly for the times when I want to dress up a little – if we’re heading out to dinner, or on a date, or to an event – which is great because I often struggle with what to wear in those situations. I’m looking forward to pairing these with a dress to see how they shine.

SHIRT: Everlane | PANTS: Jesse Kamm in Street | SHOES: Sarita Wedge Sandal in Tan, c/o Nisolo (size 10)  | BAG: Baggu

I’ll be back on Friday sharing my next set of looks. The weather is supposed to drop into the 50’s, so things should get interesting – yikes! Be sure to stop by tomorrow – I’ll be debuting a fun new design collaboration with my friend Haley of Only Child!

  1. The Miranda Bennett top and Kamm pants look amazing on you. Both colors give warm weather vibes in spades. Geesh, all of these looks are winners, feeling both stylish and very much you.

    1. Thank you Alex! I always value your opinions so much. Those two pieces were definitely excellent additions to my closet this season. I love the softness they bring to all the black and white in my closet.

  2. Love the kamm pants. my only gripe is she doesn’t make them in larger than a size 10, which as you say is probably more like a size 8. I am a 10/12 and I know for sure because of her supplied measurements the 10 is too small :( I would totally invest in some if she extended her size range! They look awesome and I love that color.

    1. I agree, I find that rather disappointing as well! Knowing there is only one size above my size is a very weird feeling. What a bummer to feel like this style is off limits because they don’t make it any bigger than a (smallish) size 10. Have you tried writing them? Surely there must be other women who fall in this boat!

      1. Yea especially since in my book you are pretty small. It’s weird that you wear the second to largest size. My friend told me she had asked them about the sizing and was told that since they are so small they can’t make full size runs? I think the size 10 is new too. Seems pretty weird since they do make xxs and lots of women are a size 10 or more. But maybe I will contact them myself! Xoxo if they do extend it I will have to figure out what color 😩

  3. I love day one. That shirt is amazing! I too stay away from v-necks but maybe I need to rethink that rule.

    1. I forgot how feminine and beautiful a v-neck can be! I think the difference with this one is how narrow it is. I really like the look of that over a wide v-neck.

  4. I ageee!!! It IS so much easier getting dressed with fewer (versatile) items!!!

  5. Love these looks Andrea! The Kamms are magic on you! I love how you paired the street colour with a grey tee. Would never have thought to try that but it’s awesome. 5 days down, only 25 to go! haha xo

    1. Thank you!! I am really enjoying them. Honestly, it’s hard to wear anything else! Once it heats up, I’m sure that will change though.

  6. Yay cool outfits! Love that first top (I’m always about vnecks), and the dress with sneakers, I I need to do that more often. Finally got myself together and did my first 30×30 day yesterday!
