7 Days of Outfits: Spanning the Temps

Summer pretty much kicked off this week in Portland, for the foreseeable seven days at least. In this 7 Days of Outfits, I went from dressing for warmth to dressing to stay cool. Don’t worry, I’m sure we will have some ‘June gloom’ next month, so I’ll get to run through all my jeans and long sleeves again. For now, here’s a look at what I’ve been wearing.

SUNDAY:

Ethical Fashion, Vetta

Duster, c/o Vetta | T-shirt, Everlane | Dress, Everlane (no longer available) | Clogs, c/o Bryr (in Sienna) | Bucket Bag, Baggu

No time for a real camera shot, so a cell phone picture (with oversaturated hues) must suffice. We had a great Mother’s Day. It was relaxing, and fun, and I didn’t have to make any food or wash any dishes. :) If you’re a mom or were celebrating your own mother, I hope your day was equally as relaxing!

You can’t really see it, but I wore a white shirt underneath this chambray dress for another layer to keep warm, and the effect was almost like a layered slip dress. I loved the result! One of my favorite things to do with my closet is create new looks with what I already have.

MONDAY:

Sweater, old UO (love this version) | Scarf, Cuyana | 501’s, vintage | Clogs, c/o Bryr | Bucket Bag, Baggu

I think I changed at least three times on this day until I got what felt like the right combo. It was definitely a Monday. This sweater plus my favorite jeans and my favorite clogs = a fail-safe look for me. Whenever I have days where I struggle to pull something together, I always revert back to my favorites. That is usually a quick and easy solution!

TUESDAY:

Burn Tee, c/o Bridge & Burn | Work Pant, Elizabeth Suzann | Birkenstocks

This is another look that I’d classify as my version of lounge wear. It was one of those days where I was busting my butt to get a lot of things done, and I barely had time to run a comb through my hair let alone give much thought to the rest of my appearance. I felt super sloppy because I was wearing a t-shirt, and these Birks feel like squishy slippers. But when I saw the pics, I was kind of surprised how pulled-together I came across. I suppose that is a perk of having ‘elevated’ basics.

WEDNESDAY:

Leather Jacket, Reformation | BCN Linen top, c/o Tradlands | Wide Pant, Lauren Winter | Cons, thrifted (try these) | Bucket Bag, Baggu

I fully realize these pants aren’t the most flattering thing I own. Some days that keeps me from wearing them because they are hard to style (only a select number of tops work with them). But on other days, I just don’t care, and I love wearing them because they’re wonderfully different. I guess my rebellious streak is finally emerging at the ripe age of 34.

(Do you have any items like that in your wardrobe?)

THURSDAY:

Hackwith Design House Jumper

Wide Leg Jumper, c/o Hackwith Design House | Merino Cardigan, old J.Crew (try this instead) | Pons, c/o Avarcas Canada (USA Site) | Tote, c/o Cuyana

Jumpsuit love! I got two compliments on this today, one from a complete stranger! It should be criminal to wear something this comfy and still pull in compliments. I am pretty sure this even feels better than my favorite 100-year-old yoga pants. A quick styling note: I really like that I can wear this piece with or without the accompanying belt. Sans belt I feel casual enough to hang around the playground at school. Add a belt, and I feel a little more polished for heading to church or out on a date.

FRIDAY:

Tie Top, c/o Only Child | Skirt (no longer available), c/o Bridge & Burn, (love this option instead) | Birkenstocks | Bucket Bag, Baggu | Necklace, c/o Loop

Welcome to my chaos! The kitchen is cluttered, there’s a dog underfoot, and one of our cabinet doors is temporarily off – yikes! Real life, my friends. Most days I push the clutter aside, and some days I can’t seem to find enough room to do even that.

Another kid-friendly day with a kid-friendly outfit. We spent a large part of the day on the playground after school because the warm weather officially moved in. I, in my most comfy shoes, my kids, in their chalk-smeared clothes and outdoor voices. And, for those of you kind souls who inquired, my daughter’s foot is well on the mend! It’s been three weeks since she fractured it, and she can walk on it again. In fact, I find myself regularly telling her to slow down. Kids, they don’t stay down for long!

A quick style note: Sometimes this skirt feels too masculine on me, but this shirt helped give me a little more of an hourglass shape and I ended up really liking this super easy (and breezy) combo.

SATURDAY:

Leather Jacket, Reformation | Everyday Cotton Gauze Top, Miranda Bennet (I’m afraid it’s sold out everywhere I’ve looked!) | Skirt, thrifted Steven Alan (very similar) | Clogs, c/o Bryr | Bucket Bag, Baggu

Got all gussied up for a Saturday because my oldest had a piano recital downtown. It was crazy how nervous I got for her. It’s like she and I embodied the same mental state for the hour preceding the event. I knew I cared about my kids, but I didn’t expect to have mom nerves!! I suppose this will be the first of many times I do. She was a little nervous and fumbled in the beginning, but ended up playing her song (Fur Elise!) beautifully. We were so proud!

I love this look. Head to toe. It has a slight edge from the jacket, and some warm tones from the top and shoes. This cotton gauze top is another one of my summer additions. I’m excited to wear it and style it more for you guys. It’s pretty and breezy, but still makes me feel pulled together even with cutoff shorts!

FAVORITES: Thursday + Saturday

KEY LESSON: When facing styling doubt, revert to your favorites, they won’t let you down!

  1. Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday were my favorites!
That jumpsuit always looks good on you. :)
Glad you had a good Mother’s Day. 🌷
Also good news about your daughters foot, and your daughters recital. I always wanted to learn to play a musical instrument.
The weather has been way up and down here too. More than normal. Last week we went from highs of 85+ with sun, to 55 with rain!
    Have a great Tuesday❤️

    1. Spring can be such a spastic season! I am with you on the instrument. I still think I would like to take piano lessons some day!

  2. I’m really enjoying your new format of sharing a week of outfits all together. It’s fun to see them all together and have photos fro m your daily life. Also, Friday’s outfit was so cute! A bit different then what you typically wear, but refreshing to see something new!

  3. Obsessed with your Tuesday outfit, I think because the gray works so beautifully with that green. Your wide leg pants are also such a great color. You really have a gift for pairing pretty hues.

    1. Thank you Lo!!! When the hues marry well in an outfit, it makes me so happy!!! Sometimes I get obsessed though. Still really liking my Clyde pants!

  4. Hi Andrea, I love your style and your perspective. Quick question…the BURN tee, what size are you wearing? I love their graphic tees and I’m hoping to order the right size. Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Keely! Their tee’s run small in my opinion!I am wearing a Medium here, and it almost feels smaller than I’d like.

  5. I look forward to these posts so much! I’ve been so inspired by you that I’m thinking of starting to photograph my outfits in order to hone in on my own style. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Oh yay!! I’m so honored Kate!! :) You really should! It’s so helpful. But you have to plan a time to go back and review them, and take mental notes about what you learn.

  6. I love the jumpsuit on you! Question for you: I also really love your REIFhaus jumpsuit. Do you have a favourite between the two? I think I’m ready to take the plunge into the jumpsuit world, but I can’t decide between the Hackwith Design House one or the REIFhaus — they’re both pretty amazing but I can only fit one in my budget at the moment!

    1. Hi Kristen, this is such a great question! For me, the difference between the two comes down to the fabric. The REIFhaus one is made from Linen/Poly blend, which is more ‘everyday’ and less dressy, and I love the way it feels on my skin. The HDH one is made from Tencel, which is more drapey and dressy. Tencel is kind of silky and slippery feeling. So if you’re looking for one that’s slightly dressier go with HDH, if you’re looking for one that’s more everyday, but can still be kind of dressed up, try the REIFhaus one. Also, the REIFhaus one is super easy to get on and off! Good luck! Keep me posted!

  7. Two random question:

One – the mirror in your bedroom. Where did you get it? (hoping IKEA or some other spot also on the East Coast)
Two – have you tried Bridge and Burn’s linen pants? I’m interested in a pair, and they seem similar to the Elizabeth Suzann ones you love, but with a slightly more budget friendly price tag.

    1. Hi Sara! If you mean the long, leaning mirror, that one is from Ikea. Here is the link to the exact same one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80178424/

No, I have not been into B&B’s store for awhile. But a big part of the reason why I wanted the ES ones was for the nonconventional shape. I like B&B’s pants, but they’re a little more mainstream than what I was looking for. Best of luck on your search!

    2. Hi Sara, I thought I would chime in here – I have the Market Tan Stretch Linen pants. I love the fabric – it’s kind of marled with great texture. The online photos don’t do it justice. I usually get a size 27 and dart the waist in pants, but I got a size 26 in these. I maybe could have gotten a 25. My one complaint about these pants – the calf is tight. I love how the pant is loose at the ankle, but the calf is tight enough I have to pull them down every time I stand up. I don’t have particularly large calves and don’t have a calf fit problem with other pants, so it baffles me. I do get lots of compliments on them & love the pop of color. Just wish they fit me awesomer. Hope that helps!

  8. I love Thursday, and really love Friday. Probably because it’s something I can actually wear where I live (Miami). I basically try to be as uncovered as possible while still looking stylish. Not being able to wear pants or throw on a cute duster to complete a look is rough!! I am still looooooving this format. It’s so great to see someone repeat outfits with little tweaks since that’s how we all dress every day. It’s inspiring!

    1. Thank you Mel! I always love it when you weigh in! What is your IG handle? Do you ever share you outfits on there?

  9. Hi! Love this series of posts. Question for you on the Bridge and Burn t-shirt. How is the fit of these t-shirts? Would you say the run small? Thanks.

    1. Hi Kelly! Sorry for the delay in response. I think they fit TTS, but the cut is small, does that make sense? I have a medium, and it’s a pretty fitted t-shirt. If you want fitted go TTS, if you want loose, size up.

  10. can you please comment on sizing for the lauren winter pants? I’m really intrigued by them but can’t decide XS or small. I’m short (5′ 3″ and hover around 115-120 lbs–but muscular/athletic build). Thanks so much! I find your blog very inspiring and am enjoying seeing different silhouettes (wide leg, cropped, loose, etc).
