Summer Preview: the Jumpsuit

Seasons + Salt Reifhaus Lou Jumpsuit-4

Oregon has been flirting with summer a lot more than usual this spring. Some days have even climbed into the upper 80’s. It’s been a little shocking for this rain-soaked, Oregon girl, but it has also been a much welcomed change from the usual Spring sogginess.

Those warm rays also mean I’m getting ample opportunity to test out some items I’ve added to my closet for summer – like this jumpsuit from Reifhaus, which I think is going to be a summer favorite!

I had the opportunity to return to Lindsey’s studio and actually buy the piece from her in person. I can’t tell you how rewarding an experience that was! To be able to chat with her about fit and fabric, and ask her opinion on the best choice, was amazing! I almost wish all my shopping experiences could be like that.

When I interviewed Lindsey, she talked about having certain items in your closet that just make you feel good every time you put them on. This jumpsuit does exactly that! I got it a few weeks ago and immediately wore it two out of the next three days. I’ve worn it to school pickup, a book fair, a barbecue and all day Mother’s Day (one of those days where you just really want to feel good!).

It’s unlike anything I’ve ever owned, which is kind of exciting. And it looks good with all the shoes already in my closet (something that definitely entered my mind before I bought it). I love the shape of the jumpsuit, it has these amazing side panels that conceal sleek pockets and give the suit just the right amount of bagginess. The linen-blend fabric is super breezy on hot days, and the whole piece is just as suitable as a sundress would be when temperatures climb.

On cooler days, I’ve worn the jumpsuit with a light, drapey merino cardigan (similar to this), or a denim jacket. But I think it would look great styled with a leather jacket and ankle boots.

I was a little unsure of what to wear underneath it at first. When I interviewed Lindsey she was wearing the Lou Jumpsuit in a lighter color, and I posed that question to her. She was wearing a bralette from her own line, which peeked out with just the right amount of color. I’ve worn mine alternately with my black and ivory bralettes. Which leads me to another topic: Bras! I have yet to find and test out ethically made bras. The ones I’ve come across are almost always too thin for what I’m looking for. I’ll keep you posted when I find something good and worth sharing.

I’ll be going offline tonight or tomorrow to update my site. So no Weekly Rundown this weekend, but it will be worth it when you get to see my new digs! :)

Happy Friday friends!

  1. Apropos of nothing, I found what I think is a Loop Jewelry necklace (the ‘kite’ one that you featured a lot a year or so ago) in my favorite consignment store here in Brooklyn today and I was so excited because I’d been thinking about buying it for months! It’s beautiful and makes me want to buy more of her pieces. Thanks for putting it on my radar! :)

  2. You make the jumpsuit look great! I’m unsure how it’d look me… maybe I’ll give it a try – thanks!

    1. Thanks so much Bobbiejean! It’s a fun experiment, but one that I feel has paid off. I really, really enjoy wearing it! I hope you’ll try it out. :)

  3. I think the weather switched places this year. Charlottesville is really feeling the PNW vibes this spring. It’s rained every day for like a month. Ugh!

    Also, that jumpsuit is great.

    1. What! That’s crazy!

We are back in a rainy streak now. No bueno. :( 60’s for the foreseeable future. Boo!
