While I wish the weather was a little perkier, I took the weekend as an opportunity to wear-test a new jeans style from Everlane!

These are the Cheeky Bootcut, which I have been eyeing since I saw them land on their Coming Soon page. I’ll be posting a ‘mirror review’ on my Instagram stories later today, and I’ll try to recap as much of that info as I can here in today’s blog post too.

The Cheeky Bootcut was gifted to me from Everlane. It comes in three washes, Sunbleached Blue (super light), Washed Black and Classic Blue Wash (the ones I’m wearing here). I knew I wanted a darker pair of jeans this fall since I have so many lighter washes, and I loved how these inspired sort of a throwback to the 00’s with the darker wash and bootcut fit. What I didn’t expect was the inseam detail! There is a triangle of darker colored fabric (it looks like the light blue and black don’t have it). It’s a really unique detail that I was a little unsure about at first, but it’s growing on me. I like that it makes the jeans feel a little more styled. I love, love the raw hem (long live raw hems!).

I tried these in my two usual pant sizes: 27 and 28, and decided to keep the 28. The 27 fit, even comfortably, but I’ve been liking my bottoms a little more relaxed these days so I went with the 28. As you can see from the photos, they are still pretty fitted! These pants come in two inseams: an ‘ankle’ length, which is 26.5″ and ‘regular’ which is 28.5″. I’m wearing the regular and it’s still a tad cropped on me, which I think will look really cute with boots in the fall!

The last time I tried the original Cheeky jeans (not to be confused with the button-fly 90’s Cheeky) the denim did not have very good shape retention. After wearing these all weekend, and sitting on the floor with my kids and squatting and moving around a lot, I noticed that they don’t bag out in the same way. The knees loosened, but not to the point of looking sloppy. So far these get an A+ for retention.

The rise on these jeans is nice and high. They easily cover my belly button and they actually stay up. The leg opening is what I’d call a ‘modest’ bootcut. There isn’t a huge flare, but definitely a nice, wider opening at the bottom. They are a bit of a ‘gateway bootcut’, good for those who might be newly stepping out of their skinny-jeans comfort zone!

If you have any questions on these, feel free to ask away!

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Vintage Tee, thrifted (super cute option!)
Cheeky Bootcut Jean (28), c/o Everlane
Clementine Clog (41), c/o Bryr
Medallion Necklace, Missoma
Fisherman Tote, Esby (this color sold out, love this option)

This beautiful shirt! Where has it been all summer? In my ‘I need to iron’ portion of the closet. I’m so lazy about ironing! Anyone else? It was a whirlwind of a weekend. I can’t wait to share a life update with you guys soon, hopefully on Thursday or Friday. This outfit was super easy to grab (because I happened to iron the shirt ahead of time) to wear to church yesterday.

These jeans were a little snug on my stomach when I first put them on, probably because I’ve been living my best nacho life this summer. But I noticed by the second day the waistband relaxed and felt more comfortable. I didn’t experience that ‘wanting to rip your pants off’ feeling at any point with these jeans, so that’s been nice.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Button Up Bow Top, c/o Hackwith Design House (currently 30% off!)
Cheeky Bootcut Jean (28), c/o Everlane
Wedge Clogs, No.6 (similar)
Fisherman Tote, Esby (this color sold out, love this option)

The Underwhelming Summer of 2019 continues in Oregon with our less than hot temps.
