the Weekly Rundown

Seasons and salt blog

Hello lovelies! I have came across a plethora of great posts this week, and I thought, you know, I should just start a weekly round-up post! The name is a nod to my work in another lifetime when I was a TV news producer. Without further ado, here’s what’s been on my mind this week…

1) How to Buy Less AND Create the Best Wardrobe You’ve Ever Had. This is a guest post on the blog of Courtney — who wrote about Project333 for the first time. Her guest blogger talks about how she limits herself to purchasing only three new items each season. I can’t stop thinking about this concept, and I’m considering taking her advice in the fall!!

2) On Capsules, Uniforms and the 20%. Blogger favorite, Hey Natalie Jean, weighs in on capsules verses uniforms and the quest to define her style. Natalie contends that a capsule can be a style-defining hindrance and that a uniform is a better route. Her approach really has me thinking about how I view and build my wardrobe. A great read all the way to the end.

3) My Beauty Uniform. Kind of a lengthy read, but always fascinating to see how other women care for their skin. I like her mentality: have beautiful skin, wear less makeup. I think I might try out the SPF moisturizer she recommends. If I do, I’ll give it a full review.

4) JooJoo Azad: A Fashion and Social Action Blog. I came across this blog in the place where I find all things new and inspirational: instagram! A refreshing take on the fashion industry, Hoda Katebi shares Chicago street style, her own looks and her thoughts on ethically-sourced clothing. This bright, young blogger also has a whole section on her site devoted to blogging tips. You’ll find a gold mine of information there.

5) Have you listened to the new Mumford & Sons yet? It’s been playing non-stop on my Spotify. The new album is a sharp departure from the banjos/folksy style of their last two albums, and I LOVE it. It’s awesome that they are not afraid to evolve their sound as they grow as artists. It’s risky to move away from the sound that made them famous, but who wants to listen to a band who sounds the same album after album. There is no shying away from Marcus Mumford’s vocals. They stand out now more than ever.

  1. I am loving that album as well. My favorite songs are “the wolf” and “broad shouldered beast” :)

  2. I recently found Mumford & Sons, (yes, I live under a rock, ha) and LOVE them!! Great links, I always like to see what others are reading. I especially liked the first one about buying 3 new items or less, I think my capsules are established enough that should be totally doable. Have a great week!

    1. Haha! Glad you came out from your rock long enough to find Mumford & Sons. ;) I feel the same way! My capsules are established enough now that I think three items might be doable for me too. I’m excited.

  3. Hi there! Thank you so much for all of your sweet words and sharing my blog on your site! <3 I really appreciate your readership! You blog is so beautiful and so are you!! ;)
