Sometimes, you just feel great in an outfit.
It doesn’t happen for me all the time, or even most of the time, but every once in awhile all the notes of an outfit come together and play a beautiful melody. And it’s getting easier as I learn my style. This jumpsuit, by local Portland designer Lindsey Reif, is one of my very favorite things to wear. A few years ago, I never would have had the courage to purchase and wear something as “exotic” as this. I did not have the confidence in my own style – nor was I really even aware of it. I used to only feel comfortable wearing a new style if I had already seen it on someone or somewhere else first. I needed it to be approved by others before I felt courageous enough to wear it myself.
That’s one of the great things about going on this style journey. First, I explored capsules, and now I’m working with a post-capsule closet. Through this process, I have learned so much about what works for me when it comes to my clothes. And the beauty of learning your style is that you get to own it.

I’m already thinking about how I can transition this piece to fall. I’m considering adding a long-sleeved t-shirt to layer underneath it. As I’m shifting my focus from seeing my wardrobe in quadrants to a post-capsule whole, I’m making an effort to see how much of my clothing I can wear year-round. I don’t have room in my closet for ‘one-trick-pony’ pieces any longer, and I love the challenge of maximizing the versatility of my clothes
I hope you have a great Friday! And Happy Fourth of July!!
xo,
Andrea
I love your outfit, I am in the process of getting a similar jumpsuit made. What is the material the jumpsuit.
Hi Lisa! The material on this is an 80/20 (I believe) linen-poly blend. It’s very lovely.
This outfit look so perfect on you! I love the new denim jacket too. I think the layering options are great for fall – long cardigans, cropped sweaters, a cozy sweatshirt – I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Thanks friend! You know me, always over-thinking this stuff!
I love it! You look so chic. You seem so comfortable and secure with your style, and its so unique! I loved hearing that even the people you see as very stylish and secure struggle with insecurity sometimes. :)
Thanks for the support Erin! It’s been a long road, but a great one where I’ve learned a lot! I’ve learned so much by writing about it all. :)
You can just tell when someone is wearing something that just feels like them:
This is so *you* my dear! :)
I have already been scheming how I can wear some of my “warm weather” pieces in the cold months as well! (What’s up with that?) Which has me thinking my brain is migrating toward “post capsule” (as you’ve coined it) type thinking… I guess we shall see, right?!
Thank you Laura – that means so much coming from you!
Oooo! I am so curious to hear more about how your brain is migrating! Isn’t it funny how sometimes a shift is happening before we even realize it. And yes, post-capsule is for lack of better phrase. Let me know if you think of another way to put it! ;)
