I told you guys last week that I attended the Bridge & Burn spring launch party. (And you learned all about my introverted tendencies – ha!). Well my friends at B&B were nice enough to invite me to pick out an item from their spring line (in addition to hooking me up with an awesome Burn tee, which I’d been pining for!).
Like I said last week, there are so many items I love from their SS16 line, like this dress and this top, but as soon as I saw the Cole skirt, I knew it was what I wanted! Heading into spring I’d been on the hunt for an updated black skirt. Last year I lived in this one, but the fabric is really thin, and the waist is a bit snug, so I wanted an update. The only problem is that all the black skirts I kept coming across felt too ‘serious’ for me. I don’t work in an office, and I wanted something fun, casual and ‘everyday.’
The Cole skirt jumped out at me as soon as I saw it because it reminded me of track shorts. It is casual and easy, but still a skirt. I can just as effortlessly wear it to the park as I can wear it out for dinner. But the real clincher is the fabric, something I now always check because I am only looking for clothes that will hold up and feel good. This little number is 55% linen and 45% cotton. It has texture, substance and breathability. I know it’s going to hold up; I don’t have to worry about it catching a snag if I sit down on the wrong park bench. I think that is part of why I am drawn to B&B items, they are meant to be beautiful and lived in.

You inspired me to wear my new thrifted black skirt (let’s call them LBS’s? Lol) more! I am so trying on my chambray with it later! Great choice, looks cute on you!!
Yes! LBS’s! Love it!
I love that second outfit. In my head, skirts are only dressy and not suitable in my everyday life, but your last two posts make me want to change that mindset!
Perspective is everything, right? ;) Often I feel too much like a kid in shorts, that’s why I love casual skirts, but a good one can be hard to come by!
This skirt looks so comfy and casual. I love it, especially with the chambray! :)
Thank you Kate! Yes, it feels great, and I hope to wear it for a long time. :)
This is perfect! I love it with the striped top (but the other is cute, too). I have a really hard time with skirts and dresses as I feel like my upper body is proportionally bigger than my lower body. Poufy skirts make my legs look like toothpicks, but skinny ones make my shoulders look huge. This skirt has a nice balance that I think could work.
Boy, can I relate to this! (Except for the toothpicks part.) I am always feeling like my shoulders are taking over an outfit, I have to tread carefully for sure. I think that’s why I like this A-line skirt so much, it made me feel nicely balanced.
I love linen, but I don’t quite feel old enough to wear it. Is that silly? I had a lovely pair of powder blue linen pants a few years ago and felt way out of sync with my peers when I wore them. I’m looking forward to growing into the look and not caring as much as I get older!
