The Trench Trick

Want to look completely pulled together on a weekend? Even if you’re just wearing jeans and a sweatshirt? Put a trench over it. For too long, I’ve relegated trenches to ‘dress up wear’ and they’ve collected dust in my closet. But I’ve realized they’re perfect for making a super simple or plain outfit look pulled together.

On a practical level, I’ve always wished for a trench with a hood, but they just don’t look as good. My current work arounds have been: to carry a bucket hat, to use an umbrella or to embrace the drizzle. So far, the trade off has been worth wearing something more fun (and attractive) than my usual raincoat.
