Brands to Watch:
It Is Well L.A.

One of my favorite things about following the independent fashion world is watching brands emerge and grow into something special. The latest to come across my radar: It Is Well L.A. I’ve previously seen their knits on my friends Karin, Brianna, and Rachel, but this is my first up-close experience.

The brand launched in spring 2017 and they currently have a collection of soft-hued knits, jersey tops, and pull on corduroy pants, among other things. Their goal is to create timeless pieces to be worn any day of the year. They also give 10% of their profits to help build clean water wells in communities that need them. (Perhaps their name is a nod to this?) It Is Well L.A. designs and makes all their garments in Los Angeles.

For this post, I am sharing their new Chunky Pull-On Sweater, made from 100% cotton! I normally don’t wear a lot of cotton in the late fall or winter (too cold), but this thick, substantial knit is very warm!

I am a big fan of this sweater because it’s clearly a high-quality knit. It is weighty, warm, and well-designed. I opted for a small to ensure a more fitted look, but the sweater still has a beautiful drape at the shoulders (love the drop seam) and at the waistband (which I flipped under to keep the sweater short). I love big knits because they bring great texture to an outfit. Chunky cotton knits often show off the most because they are less likely to pill and obscure the pattern.

The Chunky Pull-On Sweater comes in six shades. It was hard for me to choose, but I opted for the ‘Natural’. Other colors include: Camel, French Rose, Olive, Black, and Cinder.

I love a good cream sweater because you can wear it with so many things, and it looks good alone. I’ve always said high-quality basics make a simple outfit interesting. You could wear it with vintage jeans and it would be perfection (I currently need a new pair!), and it would look cute over a long, printed dress as well.
