A Cozy (Winter’s End) Look

Okay, winter’s not really ending yet. At least not in Oregon. We woke up to snow on the ground yesterday. Thankfully it was only temporary. Though winter’s end may only be figurative at this point. I decided to go ahead and rock this spring-leaning look – one that includes three of my current closet favorites all together. I love remixing my beloved items, every which way I can. Stylistically, I think it’s more interesting than having a giant collection, plus I love the creative stretching involved.

I paired the recently-released wide leg cropped pants by Everlane with my favorite sweater by Jamie + the Jones. Black pants often feel too serious for my style, but these are uniquely shaped and are cropped just enough to feel lighthearted. I really like wearing them because the fabric is soft and stretchy, but still thick. I am toying with the idea of taking out the hems, just to make them a little more interesting (and I’ll admit, Kamm-ish), but haven’t decided anything for sure yet.

This sweater is one of my most highly-repeated wardrobe items since I got it on Christmas Eve. I wear it at least once a week. The only thing that I don’t like about it is that I feel like I am going to get it dirty when I cook, because it’s kind of drape-y in the front. Thankfully someone smart invented aprons. I love the wide cut, but my favorite part is the nubby texture of this sweater. The woven cotton is thick and super soft. Can you tell I like soft clothes? The clogs round out this trifecta of favorites. I put them on anytime I want to feel smartly-styled, or just have pretty feet to look at. The mid-heel height is perfect for my lifestyle.

I’ll be sharing my last few winter outfits this week, and part of next. Then, I’m excited to share some of my thoughts on spring with you guys . Including a check-in on my current closet goals, and an update on how I’m doing at maintaining a lean closet.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

SweaterThe T-Sweater I’m wearing is currently sold out, but the sister version of it looks equally cozy. (Similar option in wool.)

Wide Leg Cropped Pants | c/o Everlane | The black pair is currently waitlisted through mid-April, but there are a few sizes currently available in the bone and blue. If you’re looking for more feedback on size and fit, both Lee and Grechen also reviewed these. I thought they ran pretty true to size, but it sounds like some others didn’t. I’d love to hear from you, did you buy a pair of these? Did you size up or down?

Clogs | c/o Bryr Studio | I am currently fawning over their new sandal styles for summer. Did you see the blush leather?!

Bag | Super dependable, lightweight tote (full review here), but if I were to order again, I might spring for the classic style.

Necklacec/o Favor Jewelry | One of my favorite necklaces to wear, especially in the summer time with dresses. Handmade in Portland.

  1. I love this outfit! I have the T-Sweater on my wishlist for the fall/winter – J+J say it’s coming back into stock soon.

I have the Everlane pants in both black and bone. I live in Miami and am loving the breezier wide-leg pants. (Skinny pants are HOT.) I’m 5’3″ so they actually fit more like the Kamm pants. They look a touch shorter on me than Grechen, which is perfect. For me, they are true to size and I find that they stretch just a bit – just enough for them to be super comfortable without stretching out. I think they look best with clogs, though I do also like them with my Chelsea Boots. So far, my favorite way to style them is with my J+J Blank Canvas top in Olive , whiskey clogs and fine gold necklace. I got loads of compliments when I wore that.

Excited to see everyone’s Spring / Summer outfits coming into play. I love Fall/Winter looks but we only get a few cool days a year down here.

    1. That outfit you described sounds so good!! I love the olive shade by J+J they do it so well! Skinny pants ARE hot! So true. They are hard to wear in the summer. I can’t imagine year-round warmth. You probably save so much money not buying things like coats and sweaters, ha!

  2. May I ask what size you went with for your T-Sweater? Trying to do some research and I’m not sure about the oversized fit.

  3. At least it wasn’t snowing today…but seriously, come on PDX, it’s time for 50 and raining. This outfit is perfection. Effortless but so put together. Classic but trendy. Can I borrow it? Ha!

  4. I bought the Everlane pants in black in my normal size, and thought I could maybe have sized down…however, I like that it is so easy to tuck things in! I might try going down one size in the blue next month, just to see.

This outfit looks great on you! Wouldn’t mind having a sneak peek into your hair routine, one of these days.

    1. Glad I’m not the only who thinks the pants are a tad roomy.

Thanks for mentioning the hair Sarah! I plan to make a tutorial eventually! I’ll try and get it done sooner than later. :)

  5. This outfit is too good (and I will totally be copying it)! I felt the pants fit true to size, but I did pin back (and will eventually close) the pockets on the Bone color because I did not like how they showed through. Throughout the day they stretched just enough to make them a perfect fit.

    1. That’s so smart to adjust them to your liking. I think the bone color looks amazing on you! I wish I could pull it off!!

  6. Perfect! And again I am having hair and sweater envy. I REALLY need to get a haircut and may take your pic along for reference, and I just need to pull the trigger on a J & J top…… :-)

    1. Ha! Don’t envy my hair! Most days it looks terrible from the rain.

J+J on the other hand, soooo good! The T top is one of my favs!! I bet their new split T would look great on you!

  7. That looks great!!! I love the texture, warmth, and swing on the top, the darker, wide leg bottoms and those clogs look awesome with that pairing. Effortless!!! Great job!! You look comfortable and super chic!

I’m pining for a leather tote like that, but I already have a few work bags, so I’m trying REALLY hard to make due with what I have (has anyone seen my inner contentment??…I think it’s around here somewhere…)

    1. Why is inner contentment so darn fickle?! Good for you for making what you work already have! I keep feeling like I want a black leather tote, but I keep convincing myself that gray and tan are enough for now. So far it’s working! Thank you for the kind words Holly!

  8. Great outfit, Andrea. It really seems like “you.”
I sized up to the size 6 in these pants based on comments I’ve read. I just received them today but will have to have them taken in as they are a little big on me. I would exchange them for a size 4 but don’t really want to wait. I like them mostly because they feel very comfortable.

    1. I find them really comfortable too!! I hope you don’t have to take yours in too much. Which color did you get? And thank you for saying this outfit seems like “me” – that’s a huge compliment!
