What I Wore: Too Much Tan?

It’s been a bit, so I figured it was time for another outfit roundup! I have been trying to hit a good stride of knowing when and how often to post to the ‘Currently Wearing’ section of my website (do you guys ever check that spot?). But this week I wanted something in a longer format so I could prattle on about a few things.

Friday:

Last Friday, I wore this leopard print-overalls combo. In a way, the top and boots sort of dressed up an item that otherwise feels pretty casual and playful. I think that’s why I really liked the outfit.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Cardiff Coat (S), c/o Only Child *use code SEASONS15 to save* expires today
Top, Rachel Pally, last season. Check out this season’s (it’s cute!)
Overalls (S), Madewell
RALF Boots, Freda Salvador

Sunday:

Why are loose pants so good?! I think this is my personal rebellion after years of skinny pants. These are so comfortable. Did I mention there is elastic in the back? I need to hit the thrift store soon because I think they would look amazing with a wide belt.

This liner has been an unexpected hero of my fall. I am embracing more color these days, and soooo many of my jackets are black. This cinnamon color is so pretty with everything. I was supposed to feature this jacket in a blog post, but it was delayed in arriving from the factory. Consider this a high endorsement of it! It’s a light jacket, but perfect for those chilly days when you don’t quite need a puffer.

Please adore a close up of these corduroy Sylvie Trousers from REIFhaus. They are a fabulous winter pant.

ReNew Liner (M), c/o Everlane

Monday:

This outfit is crazy comfy and cozy. I have been inspired to wear my flares more after seeing Emma make them look so good. Plus, soft, stretchy pants are perfect for a Monday. This sweater was a gift from The Curated and it’s very luxe. It’s thick cashmere and extra warm. It’s a very classic shape, kind of relaxed and drapey. This is the kind of item that isn’t trendy, and it will never go out of style.

Wheat Turtleneck (S), c/o The Curated
Flares (28), c/o Everlane (from last winter, style session here)
Monk Strap Shoes, Solovair x Toast

Tuesday:

It was 36 degrees on this morning and double, thick layers felt so cozy. I am really struggling right now with these temps, I tend to pile it on in the morning! I do love the added weight this cardiff coat gives to the cotton sweater.

I think this Baggu number is going to be the bag of the season for me. It’s cool and practical, two things my heart loves HAHA. I wanted one of the little Baggu crossbodies that looked like a camera bag holder, but I never got one. When I saw this Crescent style, I jumped on it. It’s a lot closer to my personal style than the other one. Unexpected bonus of this bag: it’s very, very lightweight! I guess I’ve been using leather bags for too long.

Cardiff Coat (S), c/o Only Child *use code SEASONS15 to save* expires today
Sweater, last season, no longer available
Jeans (27), Madewell
Boots (similar for less)

Thursday:

Toward the end of this week, I struggled with building outfits. (Hence the no photo on Wednesday.) I think it’s really easy for me to get into a rut of jeans and a pullover sweater. That is why I love cardigans and mid-layer jackets, they help me break out of that.

Penny Chore Coat (M), c/o Only Child *use code SEASONS15 to save* expires today
Sweater, Babaa, this color is sold out
Graphic Tee (M), c/o ABLE (use code Andrea20 to save 20%!)
Jeans (27), Agolde
Booties, Sevilla Smith

Friday:

This outfit is a blend of a few independent brands I love: Esby, Pyne & Smith, and Freda Salvador. I’ve noticed these are also the types of items I tend to cherish the most and keep the longest in my closet. However, I’ve come to realize I have a sufficient amount of tan/wheat in my closet, and I think I’m going to put that color on the ‘no’ list when I am shopping for any new items.

Coincidentally, color has been on my mind a lot lately. I’m inspired by a new acquaintance on Instagram who is a master at color. And I’m remembering what I learned during the Wonder Wardrobe course on color I took a few years ago. It’s easy for me to fall into a mindset of thinking neutrals are queen, and make the most sophisticated outfits, but mastering neutrals is hard. And when you don’t master it, it’s very easy to end up with a snooze of an outfit. Color just makes things so much more interesting! At least this is where my mind is at right now…

Sabina Top, Esby (S)
Pinafore (S), c/o Pyne & Smith
Tights, Sheertex
Ralf Boot (10), Freda Salvador

    1. Thanks Lindsey! It was a needed change up from all my jeans! And I am sorry I never styled that Cardiff with a dress! I just felt like it didn’t work right. Hope you and the family had a good Halloween!
