10×10 | Looks 7+8 And Your Opinions

Seasons + Salt Everlane Pima

Happy Friday my friends!

I have a lot on my mind today, and some of it involves YOU.

But first, the outfits. We are nearing the end of the 10×10 Spring Closet Challenge. Only two more looks to go! Squeezing out additional outfits should be interesting, but it’s good for me. Having a super reduced closet really pushes me to find contentment in subtle combinations.

LOOK 7:

Seasons + Salt Everlane Pima-2Seasons + Salt Everlane Pima-4Seasons + Salt Everlane Pima-3[ black t-shirt, Everlane / jeans, thrifted / shoes, Nisolo (size down!) / bag, old Madewell, try this one instead ]

I’m always a t-shirt and jeans girl at heart. Super simple and super relaxed, but still pulled together enough to feel chic.

LOOK 8:
Seasons + Salt Bridge & Burn-2Seasons + Salt Bridge & Burn-4Seasons + Salt Bridge & Burn
[ hat, old, (love this option!) / top, Jamie + the Jones / skirt, c/o Bridge & Burn / oxfords, Nisolo / necklace, c/o Loop Jewelry ]

Subtle color palettes are my favorite.  Black, tan and cream. It kind of reminds me of how I like my coffee. ;)

And now, some blog business. I have been weighing some decisions about the blog, hemming and hawing over what to do, and I decided the smartest thing was probably to ask you all! I hope you’ll indulge me and provide some unfettered feedback in the comments below.

You may have noticed in the last week my page has switched between truncated and un-truncated posts. When you visit Seasons + Salt do you want to see the whole post laid out before you or do you want to click ‘Read More’ to read the posts?

Next order of business, Would you like to follow me on Facebook? I don’t currently have a Facebook page for Seasons + Salt, but I am considering starting one as a means to share content (mine and others) and spur conversation.

What types of content would you like to see more of? I realize that’s a super open-ended question, but I thought I’d throw it out there in case anyone has anything to add.

Finally, in other blog news, I’ve updated and expanded my Where to Shop page, my About Me, and I’ve shared my Blog Mission. Just in case you were curious. ;)

Have a lovely weekend!

xo,
Andrea

  1. I want to see the whole post laid out! I follow on feedly and if a post gets truncated, I usually won’t click through unless I have more time.

  2. Untruncated! I love this blog, and when bloggers start truncating, that’s usually the beginning of the end for me (as a reader).

I don’t follow blogs on fb, so I have no opinion on that ;-)

My favorite posts are your reviews (because you seem genuine and honest and not like you’re just praising something because it was sent to you), your recommendations on where to get certain items (loved that PACT one the other day), and your periodic lists of ethical retailers. I also like that you stay on message with ethical fashion and don’t veer off into lifestyle/parenting-blog stuff (though I like the once-a-week variety of your weekly rundowns).

    1. This is great feedback, thanks Liz! It’s funny, when I started this blog, I *thought* I’d write more about parenting, etc., but I find I have enough parenting time in my life and this blog is sort of a like a little escape for me! Thanks so much for weighing in!

      1. Considering parenting, I really appreciate when you include thoughts on the appropriateness/comfort/functionality of styled outfits for kid-focused activities!

  3. I prefer untruncated too!

And I enjoy your reviews of clothing items, especially ones where the sizing is kind of confusing, and when it’s something you’ve had for a while and how it’s held up or not held up. I also really enjoy your designer features (like Only Child) since I like discovering new designers and I trust your taste. :) If you have other products you like in your life (Stylebee sometimes does reviews of beauty items), I’d like to read about those too!

    1. Thanks so much Gabby!! I love this kind of feedback. I am thinking about doing a post later this spring sharing my ‘simple summer’ makeup. I’ll just share a few of my favorites that I use everyday. Thanks again for weighing in, I really appreciate it.

      1. Oooh, this made me think that if you find good ethically-made beauty products and toiletries (especially cruelty-free), that would be content I would be super into! (not to add a whole other level onto what you’re doing, but if you are already inclined in that direction with beauty products, I’d definitely love those posts).

  4. I am basically wearing that top outfit, except swap out a tee for a black Everlane sweatshirt!
I would prefer to see the whole post. Also, I’am not on Facebook. Too many ads. Less is more.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. I bet you look great! A black sweatshirt sounds lovely. Thanks for the feedback Jodie, I agree there are a lot of ads on Facebook!

  5. The “read more” drives me crazy! I’m 1000% less likely to read the post if I have to click through. It sounds silly, but true life. Especially as an email subscriber (of yours and others) it shows up in my email as “read more” so I then have to click over to the actual blog to read it, rather than just having it all right there in the email, and it gets wonky if you’re doing it all from mobile. There’s my two cents. Also, love everything about S+S! :)

    1. Ashley, thank you for your feedback. That makes a ton of sense, and as blog reader, I tend to feel the same way. Thank you for weighing in, it means a lot!

  6. 2 more perfect looks Andrea! You totally owned this 10×10 challenge lady! Love it.

You’re smart to ask these questions of your readers. I just went ahead and did whatever I wanted haha. I’ve seen some blogs like Reading My Tea Leaves that have the most recent posts in full and then a truncated version of older posts that you can click through. I really like that solution. When I rebrand later this year, that’s my plan ;)

I love your outfit posts and totally agree that your reviews are great because they seem genuine. Love the weekly breakdown too for good reads around the web. Your blog is one of only a few that I actually visit (even though I probably should read more)!

    1. Yes! I think that’s where the golden answer is at – truncated except for the first one. If only I knew how to do that! Eventually, when I overhaul my site, I’ll probably do that too. How exciting that you have a rebrand in the works. :)

Lee, I’m so honored by that last comment! ;)

  7. I could go either way on the read more or not. I use blog lovin mostly and am still learning the “best” way to access blogs I like. I sort of like the read more option because it keeps the page less cluttered and unending. However it’s helpful to read the above comments because I have a read more on my own blog!
I enjoy the reviews and suggestions as well. Basically, I appreciate authenticity and real life examples in blogs. And as far as FB goes… I’m on FB overload so I am trying to truncate that these days. So I probably won’t frequent it. :/ but it would be fun to see! :)

    1. Thanks Sarah for the feedback! Authenticity is essential for me, and I am so glad that my transparency comes across. :) Thanks for reading and being here. :)

  8. I honestly don’t mind clicking to read more, but I could see how that could be a deal-breaker for others. I love your outfit posts, reviews and designer features. I also love special experiments like this 10×10 challenge. I’ll keep reading whatever it is you’re writing! I visit your blog daily with fingers crossed for a new post.

    1. Dara!! Thank you for your feedback and kind words! I REALLY want to blog more (more posts), but my time is limited with my small kids at home. But as they get older and more independent, I look forward to growing my blog. So thankful to have you be a part of it! :)

      1. Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that I expected you to blog every day! I just meant that’s how much I look forward to your posts. I’m just hopeful, not expecting it. :)

  9. Loving your 10×10 outfits so far!

Wow, I didn’t realise people felt so strongly about truncated vs not haha. I truncate some of my longer posts (the ones with 20+ photos), so the blog doesn’t become a chore to scroll through. As a reader, I don’t really mind.

I really like your how-to and advice posts – they’re down to earth and I don’t feel talked down to, as is the case with some other blogs :)

    1. Thanks so much Jane, I am glad to hear I come across down to earth, that’s definitely something I strive for. And real. :)

  10. I don’t care about the read more or not. I follow via bloglovin’ and get directed to the actual post.
And I wouldn’t follow on facebook – Sorry sweetie, but Insta is where I’m mostly at.
About content, I love what you’re doing, so just keep it up :)

Ps that second outfit in this post is so spot on! Need a top like that asap!

    1. Thanks Johanne! I love that top a lot! It’s slightly hard to layer over because of the sleeves though.. But it’s great for warm days! Thanks for the thoughts on FB. :)

  11. Off topic! But I love your Nisolo hurrache shoes. Did you find them to be true to size? And are they comfortable? Thank you!

    1. Hi May! I posted a full review here. Let me know if you have any other questions! They run a tad big, and are definitely comfortable!

  12. I follow your blog through Feedly and far prefer getting the full post to having to click to the site. Thanks for asking for follower feedback! LOVING your 10×10! It’s my main inspiration for my spring/summer capsule update. I live in the south and only update 2-3 times a year because the weather’s warm-hot for 8 months.

    1. Thank you Lindsay! I have really enjoyed my 10×10 as well. As always, I feel like I learn so much when I do these exercises!

  13. Untruncated, please. And I don’t follow blogs on FB, though I hear it’s a great way to increase readership if that’s what you’re after…

As a new reader, I came here for the product reviews (Nisolo in particular if I remember correctly), and I stay because of your candidness. I also love your shopping list. Not into DIYs, I also feel like I spend enough time on thinking about my parenting, I’m not particularly into outfit posts, but I find capsule wardrobes intriguing. I think proper care of fabrics might be a nice thing to add on. A lot of folks don’t know how to care for raw silk or linen and don’t know what settings or detergents to use in their washing machine.
