What I Wore: Incorporating “Third Pieces” + the Jacket Everyone Asked About

The cold weather has returned this week and it almost feels like we skipped over fall and went straight to winter! My default in this type of weather is often to wear jeans and a sweater, so I have been looking for ways to add a ‘third piece’ to make my outfits a little bit more fun and interesting.

Here is a look at what I’ve been wearing:

I am always in search of semi-frilly white shirts. This style is a staple in my wardrobe. I recently sold the one in my closet because it wasn’t working for me anymore (too short to tuck in!) and I was delighted to find this one a few months later. One criteria I look for: fabric that is easily washable, and preferably cotton. I like that this one has just the right amount of detail, without being too dramatic.

Last Friday we went out to celebrate because I passed my real estate licensing exams!! Woohoo! One step closer! (And more office-friendly outfits coming soon!) That’s why there was no blog post last week; I was deep in study mode. We popped out for a quick drink and appetizer and this is what I wore (my apologies for the nighttime lighting!).

I am still figuring out how to style this shape of jeans. Next time I will try pairing them with something oversized on top instead of something so fitted since the jeans already have a bit fitted shape.

Simon Jumper (M), c/o
Jeans (I sized up)

Boots (old, no longer available)

I shared a little video of this outfit on Instagram and got soooo many DM’s about this jacket! Which surprised me because I thought I’d shared it plenty over the last year. But it’s worth sharing again here because this jacket was easily my most-worn last fall/winter/spring. I *wish* it had a hood, but other than that it’s near perfect for me. A little bit of warmth, a little bit of rain resistance and a nice dose of style. The oversized fit comfortably layers over all of my sweaters and blazers too!

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Jacket (M), c/o
Layering tee (S)
Standard Zip Jumpsuit (M), c/o

Sunnies

I *finally* got myself a pair of black Agolde 90’s jeans. I found them new on Poshmark. I do not know what took me so long! But it is interesting to compare them to the light wash 90’s jeans I’ve had for a few years (see them in the first outfit). My older pair is very broken in and is as comfortable as pjs, while the new pair feels tight. It’s a good reminder than 100% cotton denim often takes some time to mold to your body.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Ganna Shirt Jacket
Turtleneck (linked to similar color)
Jeans
Boots (10), c/o – these are 20% off through Monday 10/31 with my code ANDREABEST20, see full list of discounted styles HERE, (good for new AND existing customers!)

  1. From one broker to another, congratulations on getting your license! That’s a huge accomplishment. I wish you the best!

  2. That green jacket really is so good. Practical but cool enough to make a statement and not JUST be about warmth. Congrats again, love you and so proud of you!!
