One Holiday Dress –> Two Ways

Edie Dress by Fauxgerty, Party Dress, Holiday Dress

Fauxgerty sent me this dress to style and share on Instagram, and I decided to share all the details here on the blog too.

It’s undeniable, we are officially in the ‘holiday season.’ At least, that’s what I tell myself after Halloween. I love November and December and all the feasting and merriment that comes with them. We are a bunch of homebodies but, if I’m lucky, I get a few occasions this time of year to dress with a little bit of extra fanfare.

It feels great to have a go-to party dress, the kind of item you can pull on and instantly feel occasion-appropriate. I don’t have a lot of these in my closet. In fact, I often rock the same, simple black dress for all of these types of occasions. But I love this one because it has sleeves! That means no fussy layering, and an instant cold-weather appropriate outfit. For today’s post I decided to put this dress to the test and see how I could style it for a party AND everyday wear.

The Edie

This little number surprised me right out of the box, it’s made from cotton! It’s a nice change from what I often see dresses made of, Tencel, silk, rayon blends etc. The cotton feels warm on my skin, and the white, embroidered dots lend an extra element of texture and interest to the dress. The cotton is upcycled vintage fabric, and it is lined with deadstock-sourced rayon.

The dress is a wrap style, so it’s forgiving in the size, and easily stays closed at the top. I am wearing a size medium.

FOR A PARTY:

If I were headed to a party, I’d pair the Edie with sheer tights (no bare legs for me after summer!) and black pumps. A clutch rounds out the party look, and if you check out my IGTV video, you can see the jacket I paired this with (it’s really fun!). To complete the look I added a chunky gold bracelet, and I think big, gold earrings would look great too!

FOR EVERYDAY:

I’m so pleased with how this outfit turned out! A base layer goes such a long way to keeping an outfit cold-weather appropriate. Here, I am wearing fleece tights and a turtleneck underneath the dress. The turtleneck is slim-fitting so it’s easy to layer underneath the dress; a bodysuit would work great too! Flat boots and a casual jacket keep the outfit low-key. If it were super cold I’d add a parka or a wool coat.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

The Edie (M), c/o Fauxgerty
Pima Micro Rib Turtleneck (M), Everlane
Fleece Lined Tights (similar)
Chelsea Boots (9.5), Everlane
Denim Chore Jacket (M), sold out in denim, available in navy corduroy, love this option from Sézane
Backpack, old (very similar)

Thanks so much for reading along! If you plan on heading to any holiday parties this season, I’d love to hear what you’re going to wear!
