It’s been another busy week in our household. I keep reminding myself this busy season won’t be forever, and I can’t wait until I can slow down a little bit. Right now, I feel like the last thing I have time for is putting together a cute outfit. But, when I look back at the photos, I think I did okay! A big reason: repeating what I like. I said this a few blog posts ago, repeating outfits makes life simpler!
The same principal applies on an individual item level: repeating items makes it easier to build outfits. The reason is two-fold. Repeating an item helps you learn and understand how to style it, which leads to quicker outfit creating. And, repeating an item can mean you don’t have to create a whole new outfit from scratch. Instead, you can change out a few elements for a different look. You can see my example later in the post.
Here’s a look at what I’ve been wearing in the last week.
I shared this outfit on Instagram when I wore it, and I got so many DM’s asking about these pants! It seems like we are all really interested in a major silhouette change when it comes to jeans. Loose, baggy, wide, full length jeans are the exact opposite of skinny or straight, cropped jeans. While I like them, I do not think they will ever be my ‘everyday’ or ‘go-to’ jean. But the variety is fun, and very comfortable… free the legs!

Our mornings are decidedly cooler, so I am trying to build outfits that work for a range of temperatures: from the 60’s-80’s!

Outfit repeat for the win! This is one of my favorite warm-weather outfits/formulas. I love this style of tank so much, I have worn mine endlessly this year. This outfit saved me time in the morning and helped me feel confident all day long.

I recently got to pick a few things from Able’s fall release and you can see most of them in this post, including this sweater! This is the Cristina Boyfriend Cardigan, which I thought would be a nice alternative to my often worn, and very oversized Jenni Kayne sweater. I like it because the fit is a lot closer to the body, which works well with a variety of jeans and pant styles.

Tee (M) (a little too short for tucking, fyi!)

This is another item from Able’s fall line, and wow, I love it! It’s a thick, structured, lined blazer. The shell is 100% cotton, (I prefer natural fibers whenever I can!) and the style is very easy to wear. It has masculine influences, but it’s not too oversized that it looses it’s shape. I’ve noticed with oversized blazers I have to be selective about what I pair them with, but this more structured/fitted style feels like it could go with almost any bottoms.

Elma Structured Blazer (M), c/o – use ANDREA15 to save
Tee (M), J.Crew (love this so much that I’m getting it in black too)
Jeans (sized down)
Sneakers (10), c/o
Bag

I liked this blazer enough to wear it two days in a row! The next morning when faced with the never ending question of, ‘what should I wear’ I decided that instead of tapping my creativity for the day by building an outfit, I would repeat what I wore the day before but with some different elements. I loved it! The scallop neckline on this top is a fun detail to pair with the plaid blazer, lots of visual interest!
