After taking a break from shopping or adding anything new to my wardrobe, I recently added three things for fall! Three things that I can hopefully wear in a business casual setting when needed. In case you missed the reason for my wardrobe changes, you can catch up here.
I’ve thought a lot about how I want to dress professionally when the weather changes, and mostly I come up blank. I realize it’s going to be a learning process, and I’ve accepted that. The last time I had to entertain the idea of business casual outfits was 2008! My plan right now to is to favor silhouettes I’ve enjoyed the most over the years. I want my outfits to feel like ‘me’ but with a bit less sartorial risk than I usually take. When I’m working, I want to feel confident in my clothes, not distracted by them.
With that in mind, here are a few items I picked out from some longtime Seasons + Salt brand partners. This post is not sponsored, but these items are gifted. Be sure to peep the discount codes below!
1. Scallop Raglan Top

I was immediately drawn to the texture of this top and the scalloped neckline makes it even better. I like that this top is feminine without being frilly. The shape of it is perfect to wear with my loose pants or trousers, and the cotton/modal fabric means it’s nice and soft. I think this one will work well under blazers and jackets too. I sized down to a small.

2. Sailor Pant

In my quest to build business casual outfits, pants have been the biggest challenge. In my minds eye, I can’t figure out how to make them work! However, as soon as these arrived on my doorstep, I felt a lot more confident. They are somewhere between a trouser and a jean, the fabric is durable, stretchy and comfortable. I styled them with my favorite mules but, if I were dressing casually, they would look super cute with my platform converse. In the fall, I’ll try heeled boots. These run a tad on the big side. I am wearing my usual size and enjoying a slightly looser fit.

3. Maha Leather Jacket

As you can see, I am just a tad excited about this one! I tried it on with three different outfits to show you how I will probably wear it. I wanted a jacket that would work in a professional setting, and I think this slate color looks super nice. I love how it looks with black pants. I was also drawn to this jacket because of the *slightly* boxy, yet cropped fit. I took this in my true size and it fits just right. It’s not too big or too small. I plan to wear it indoors as part of my outfit, so I wanted it to fit more like an outfit accessory than a jacket for warmth. When I first tried it on, I was worried it would be too tight on my arms, but I noticed after about fifteen minutes or so the leather had warmed and softened and felt better (it had been tight on my elbows). It’s a good reminder of the magical qualities of leather!

So glad you went with that color of leather! It’s so chic yet unexpected and looks so good with all the outfits
