I wish I could give you guys a peek inside my closet. You would see how utterly chaotic and unorganized it is. I am currently ‘shedding’ my winter items and leaning more into the warmer-weather-side of my closet. My sweaters will go into storage on a top rack and my heavier coats have been moved to a rolling rack downstairs. And while I sift the winter items out, I’ll inspect any that need to find a new home, be repaired, etc.
All of this feels like a bit of big process for me, but it’s one worth spending time on. While I’ve been in the mindset of shifting to spring, I do have three *simple* ways I like to change things up for this season. Spring can feel a bit short compared to a long, rainy winter or the dog days of summer, but there are a few types of items that are literally perfect to wear right now.

1. Lighter Colors
Days filled with sunlight call for a major shakeup of my black-garment-loving winter ways. All my darker shades feel downright surly when the flowers are popping and the skies are bright. I love to trade in my darker jeans, sweaters and jackets for lighter counterparts. The lighter the better with the denim, jackets that can be worn as outerwear (pictured above!) and of course, all the white.
2. Cotton Sweaters
It’s often still chilly in the PNW during spring, but not *too* chilly, making it the perfect time for light sweaters. I love alpaca because it’s soft and literally lightweight on my body. And it’s the perfect time for chunky, cotton knits! The one I am wearing here is a few seasons old, but I linked to a similar one below.
3. Fanciful Footwear
This is perhaps the most exciting part about spring dressing: I can finally step out of all my dark, winter boots and embrace playful footwear! While function rules in the winter (hello, rain), fashion rules in the spring. I’ll take all the mules, clogs, loafers and fancy tennis shoes, thank you. This pair is my very favorite for spring, with the cutesy side cut-outs and triple velcro-closure (makes every outfit look a touch cooler!).
