Madewell Insiders Sale: What I Tried Out

A couple times per year Madewell has a big sale called the ‘Insiders Sale.’ This means, if you’ve signed up for an account with them (all it takes is an email address), you can sign in and enjoy 20-25% sitewide. Before the sale ends on Monday, I wanted to show you a few items I tried out.

This post is not sponsored by Madewell, but I did get a few gifted items when the sale kicked off. I also bought a few. I’ll mark each item clearly below.

Denim Peter Pan Collar Shirt + Perfect Vintage Jeans + Sydney Crossbody

Denim Peter Pan Collar Shirt, c/o size 6 – I love this. It’s such a fun take on a chambray shirt. The collar and the cropped(ish) hem lend a bit of a vintage vibe and the slightly puffed sleeves are a fun, feminine detail. I first wore it tucked, but I think I like it better untucked.

Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Full-Length Jean in Elmont Wash, c/o, size 27 – WOW, these jeans look so much different in person than they do on the website. I even double checked the style number to make sure they were what I picked. They are not quite full-length on me (I’m 5’7). First impression is that I love the wash. I have worn these for two days now and they are very comfortable, even with me being on the top end of the size 27 range (aka, the jeans are tight). They have a nice, high waist and are fitted through the hips and comfortably loose all the way down. I really like them, and I look forward to them fitting a little bit looser at the end of my post-bulk cut. You can see more photos of the jeans here. This is a great universal style.

Sydney Crossbody Bag, c/o – I’ve had my eye on this one for awhile. I actually had it in black, but I preferred some of my other black bags so it didn’t see a lot of use. But this honey-brown color is beautiful. It seems so hard to find a bag with top handles AND a long strap, and I really like that this bag offers both.

Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean in Tile White
+ Louisa Crisscross Slides

Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Crop Jean in Tile White, c/o, size 27 – These are billed as wide leg jeans, but they look decidedly straight on me, just like the pair above. They are thick denim, but nice and stretchy making them comfy and easy to wear! If you’re into cropped pants, these are great for spring and summer.

Louisa Crisscross Slide, *bought*, size 10 – I am thinking these will be my summer go-to sandals! They are comfy, and the leather is soft and I can already tell it will mold to my feet. I love having slip off sandals in the summer, for the convenience of going in and out of the house, and I usually just wear Birks. But I like that these are nearly as comfy and offer a more elevated look.

These items are styled with the Sydney Crossbody, Box Cut Tee and 80’s Blazer.

Superwide-Leg Jeans in Blaisdell Wash

Superwide-Leg Jeans in Blaisdell Wash, *bought*, size 27 – I was VERY excited for these jeans. I have been on the lookout for a stellar pair of high-volume, wide leg jeans. And when these came I really liked them. BUT, I decided not to keep them. I think the fit is amazing, I love the high waist and baggy legs. It’s a totally different silhouette, and not for everyone, but it’s a look I have been after. But for me, the wash was just a tad bit off from what I was looking for.

I recently purchased the Paloma Style from Citizens of Humanity which have a nearly identical silhouette to these. I had not cut the tags off yet because I was waiting to compare them to the Madewell pair. The Palomas are slightly less high waisted, but the fade on the wash is a little bit more higher quality. But you’ll pay for it. The Palomas are about twice as much. If you are excited to try a wide leg jean but want a lower investment, I would suggest the Madewell pair.

OTHER ITEMS I BOUGHT:

White Sands Softfade Cotton Oversized Tee – A black graphic tee has been on my wish list, and I love the vintage look of this print. I sized up to a large.

Woven Leather Belt – Styling is in the details, right?? I love the 90’s vibe of this belt. I think it will take any t-shirt and jeans combination up a notch.

And for those who like visuals, here is a complete list of my Madewell Insiders sale picks:

  1. Love this! I have some straight leg jeans coming from the sale and I’m nervous they’ll be too tapered but we will see!
