4 Holiday Outfit Ideas

This December, I find myself approaching holiday outfits with a bit more enthusiasm than years’ past. After a somber holiday season in 2020, and many months in soft pants and loungewear, I am welcoming the chance to don a sharp outfit!

You bet I wore a nice outfit on Thanksgiving, and plan to do the same for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. There’s something about wearing a pretty blouse or shoes that are fancier your everyday boots that makes a holiday feel like even more of an occasion.

Today’s post features 4 holiday outfit ideas that can be worn to a party, a casual get together, your family dinner and beyond. Many of these items might even already be in your closet!

1. Distressed Jeans + A Slinky Blouse

Contrast is always my favorite accessory. I love the combination of vintage or vintage-y distressed jeans and a chic, polished top! The sheer sleeves are a statement maker, yet the body of this shirt is soft and easy to wear. I finished this outfit with heeled black boots, but I think black pumps would be even cuter!

2. Short Dress + Chunky Boots

I like this formula so much I styled it two different ways! White is a fun and unexpected color for a holiday party or event. So many folks opt for black or red, or something else dark. White is a beautiful way to contrast all of the deeper shades. Short dresses are great to pair with chunky boots because you are layering feminine and masculine together, and the tension between the two makes an interesting outfit. And boots are great for being on your feet and staying comfy while you mingle!

A note on the boots: I bought them in the wrong size, so I didn’t end up keeping them, but they are beautiful and comfortable, and I highly recommend them!

3. Delicate Blouse + Trousers

Trousers are having a major moment in fashion’s spotlight right now. It’s a fun departure from all the fitted things we often fill our closets with. In my outfit, these aren’t true trousers, but for the purposes of this formula, I think they definitely look like they are! Loose, floor-sweeping trousers bring drama to any outfit (even a plain white tee!), but they absolutely sing when paired with a statement blouse. I finished the outfit with heels to showcase the height of the pants in all their glory.

4. Faux Leather Leggings

Who doesn’t love a holiday outfit that is just as comfortable as it is chic? Have you tried faux leather leggings? I’ll admit they take a little more effort to put on than regular leggings, but I love the sheen they add to an outfit. They would look great tucked into knee-high boots or even worn under a mini dress.

  1. It’s amazing how the outfits play role in making us slimmer or else. Faux leather is the best, second the silky blouse but for a holiday delicate blouse and trousers. Have a safe holidays
