the Weekly Rundown: Listening to Asian-American Experiences + Winter on Sale

Words and art by the talented Morgan Harper Nichols.

This week’s mass murders in the Atlanta area are very upsetting. It’s hard to see people being singled out and murdered solely because of their cultural or ethnic background. I’ve noticed that it’s very tempting to me to isolate this as one awful event by one disturbed individual. So instead, I am currently listening with open ears to the voices and outcries of my Asian-American friends. Overall, I am working on trying to get better at listening to the viewpoints of others (specifically groups that have been targeted by racism) and hold them above my default, one-sided perspective. Listening to others truly does get easier and become habit. ❤️

My Experience Being Asian-American Today

I don’t consider myself a francophile but I loved reading this post on French Aesthetic Outfits. There are so many great takeaways for building a sophisticated wardrobe. Life is short, don’t wait to wear your nice stuff!

Speaking of beautiful and sophisticated… this bag is very dreamy. I feel a little torn about my purse style lately. I am not sure if I’m casual and fun or everyday effortless. I wish there was one bag out there that would live up to all the things!

I found the prettiest scalloped-edge cardigan, it would look great tucked in to a pair of jeans!

If I wore gray, I’d be hitting purchase on this sweatshirt immediately.

Something about spring means I constantly have trench coats on my mind. This olive one is particularly stunning.

A few of my Everlane favorites are on sale: the ReNew Channeled Liner is $40 off. (See if here.) I wear this one a lot because it is easy to layer over most things, and it’s warm, but less bulky than a winter jacket (see it here). The Canvas Arc Pants are $21 off (see them here). These will be great for spring. I got mine in the fall and didn’t wear them a ton because it got cold, but I am looking forward to wearing them with boots and mules into the spring (see them here).

How to Parent Like a Minimalist. I don’t think I have helicopter-parent tendencies, but the parts about ‘refereeing less’ and ‘experiences over things’ really resonated for me.

I hope you have a lovely Sunday!
