Why Everlane Rises to the Top of My Workout Clothes Lineup

Note: This is a companion post to recently-published Reel on Instagram. See it here! The Reel and this post are part of a paid partnership with Everlane

I have a little stash of workout clothes in my middle drawer. And the first ones I always wear are my Everlane sets. Or, maybe more accurately, I save them for my hardest days. (Hello leg day.)

LEGGINGS

Their leggings are my absolute favorite because, quite frankly, it’s a bit like wearing a second skin. It’s super cold (and dark!) in the mornings when we get up to workout, and I always want to be warm. Buuuuut not too warm, because I’m exercising. These leggins are super lightweight, and they act as a barrier against the cold garage air AND they breathe beautifully when my body temperature starts to climb. Kind of like skin. A weird analogy I know, but the closest I could come up with to describe them. I find most other exercise leggings to be too thick. These are perfect. I have three pairs and I love them! This brown set I bought myself and it’s worth every penny.

The Perform Legging, (M) Bitter Chocolate
I find the leggings to run true to size. They come in several colors and in ‘ankle’ length. You can also buy them with pockets!

BRAS

I have tried many sports bras in my day, and for me, comfort is queen. I don’t like them super tight on my back or chest. I don’t need a ton of support so compression is not a high priority for me. I prefer support and security.

The Perform Bra, (M) Black + Bitter Chocolate
I am wearing the Perform Bra in a size medium, and it’s pretty roomy on my 36A bust.

HALF ZIP

I have a ritual each morning, after I work out. I go upstairs and make a protein shake in the blender with frozen bananas. And naturally, cooling down from a workout *and* drinking a frosty shake makes me chilly! So I always like to layer up while I drink my shake and help get the kids ready for school. It’s nice to have an easy-to-throw-on sweatshirt to keep me cozy until my shower. And it’s a bonus that my daughters think it looks cool too.

The Track Half-Zip, (M) Black, also comes in Laurel, Light Grey and Honey
The medium fits me oversized and slightly cropped.

PS. If you’re wondering how I avoid VPL with my leggings this is what I wear under them!

  1. I find almost all semi-compressive leggings really uncomfortable. If I buy my usual size, they cut off circulation in my knees, but if I size up, they slip down and still cut off circulation. I need someone to make a brand especially for big-kneed people. Unrelated: you are looking TONED.

    1. Leah, I have the knee issue too! I notice it more with jeans though. But I agree, compression leggings do not feel good. Not to mention they are super hard to get on and off. Lastly, thank you so much! Weights and working out are my quarantine hobby these days.

  2. I’m a big fan too, and really love the pocket version.  I bought the blue and black in those as well as the black non-pocketed the version. Like you, I find they fit true to size.  (I got small, am 5’6 and 113 lbs.) There’s no waistband rollover, either.  The fabric is supportive without being too tight.  I find myself staying in them long after the workout is over!
I have the black bra.  I’m about 32 C/D and wear a medium.  I get some uniboob, but it’s very comfortable.  When I run, I wear a more supportive sports bra.
I bought the same half-zip Track top for the same reason!  I ended up giving it to my 22 year old daughter, and it looks fabulous on her.  Personally, I don’t really like sweatshirt material unless it’s really thin.  The proportions are really nice.
I hope Everlane continues to make more activewear, and the second I see more leggings with pockets, I’m on it!  You look great in these!

    1. Thanks for sharing your info and experience Karen! It’s good to hear. I hope they continue to make active wear too, I love how it’s a bit more subdued than traditional activewear brands. And that’s too funny about your 22 year old! My girls are getting dangerously close to wanting to share clothes with me. I’m glad it worked out for her. :)

    1. Thank you Michelle! That is a new skill I’ve acquired! I’ve never ever been able to do them until recently! It’s very empowering. And thank you! That blue color is my new favorite I think! So pretty!

  3. Yay!! Love this! You look amazing!! It’s been so inspiring and awesome to follow your lifting on Insta.
I also love Everlane’s perform line for lifting… and have had my eye on the track half-zip!
