Soft, warm, thick, never-out-of-style. This sweater is one of those items, that might seem like a sleeper in your closet at first but instead is actually a luxury, multi-player.
This sweater was gifted from The Curated earlier this fall. If you haven’t heard of them yet, and you like luxury basics (at fair prices) this is definitely a brand for you.
I’ve been watching them grow over the last year or so, and they just keep getting better and better at what they do. They started out with their classic camel coats (McAllister vibes anyone?), and mine is a cold-weather staple in my closet. (See it here and here.) They’ve continued to grow and expand their offering to include handbags, teddy coats, and blazers. And of course sweaters!
Nicola is the genius behind the company, and she is always striving to make the best version of what they offer. These are not just any items though, they are legit luxury basics. The kind of items that elevate almost any outfit. They are made from uncompromised materials (usually 100% cashmere or the teddy coats are 100% wool for example), which means they last longer, look better, and are more sustainable. AND, they are warmer.
Back to the sweater. This year they came out with these cashmere turtleneck sweaters, and I seem to get a lot of questions about mine so I thought I’d share more.
MATERIAL
The Wheat Turtleneck is made of 100% organic royal cashmere. It’s extremely soft and thicker than any other cashmere sweaters I’ve owned. It’s totally opaque. You can read more about their cashmere sourcing here.
FIT
At first, I wasn’t sure how to style this sweater, but I kept wearing it anyway because it was so soft and warm. I have realized it truly lives up to its status as a staple basic. It’s a bit of a chameleon, which means on its own it reads very simple, but it’s the kind of item that is an excellent support item to just about anything, distressed jeans, skinny jeans, leggings, jackets of all sort. Plus the hug-your-body feel and drape of cashmere means it’s easy to layer.
I am wearing a small, so I would say this sweater is designed with a ‘relaxed fit’ in mind. It has a drop shoulder which adds to the relaxed vibe. The waistband is slightly fitted, so you can pull it up and it will gently rest on your jeans if you prefer that look. But if your pants were more smooth it would probably slide down.
Wardrobe Longevity + Care
What I love the most about this sweater is that it’s the type of item that stands far apart from trends. It stands on its own merits of quality and construction. It’s chic because it’s so well made and so simple. These are the types of items that rarely find themselves in my donate/sell pile. Instead, they are kept and loved forever because there is no expiration date to them.
I’ve had my sweater since about mid-October and after a decent amount of wear, it is only barely showing signs of pilling. I expect it will be the type of sweater I may need to use my sweater comb on from time to time, but not too often.
In the summer, I will probably need to figure out how to store it safely. Over the last summer, one of my older cashmere sweaters got a hole in it! I suspect a moth. I am trying to decide between cedar in my closet or storing it in an under-bed tote. Oh, and I never, ever wash my sweaters. I just let them air out a day or so before folding them up and putting them back on the shelf.
Styling
I’m a big fan of wearing this turtleneck under my favorite jackets. It works well under my oversized blazer (above), my chore jacket, and my Classic Camel Coat (below).

Did you make a modification to your new blog layout? If so, it’s great! I was getting frustrated trying to scroll down on one side and not the other. Maybe it’s just me and how my cromebook works. Anyway, very user friendly now, yay!!
I did!!!!! Thank you so much for this feedback. I am so sorry you were having trouble with the other format.
Love the sweater. I wish the Curated had more color options and I would buy some of their things in a heartbeat.
To your moth problem, do you wash them at the end of a season? I read that moths like our sweat ew so not washing may explain why you had a hole. I store my off season clothes in under bed bins, I always wash before putting things away, and I’ve never had an issue with holes, but could be random chance.
