the Weekly Rundown: A Few Good Sales + Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’

How’s everyone doing? Are you tired of turkey and Black Friday sales yet? Just in case you’re not, I have a few sale updates for you. If you don’t want to be tempted, maybe skip this post!

A few of my favorite local shops are having major sales: Frances May, Shop Boswell, REIFhaus (see discount details here).

Everlane is running its first-ever Black Friday sale. You can score a killer deal on their boots. (My favorites are the Western and the Square Toe Chelsea.) And I wear these jeans at least 1x per week. Their Cocoon Coat is a longtime favorite of mine (size down), and it is currently $100 off. The Puffy Puff is probably my most-worn jacket though, it’s hard to beat the warmth + hood.

I don’t need a purse (because in reality, I’m never leaving the house) but I am so tempted by this bucket bag and this tube bag in chocolate.

Also tempting me are these brown rain-resistant boots I’ve been eyeing since they came out a year ago; I love the color and lug sole. This shoemaker is one of my very favorites, I wear their Ralf Boots all the time. (I find they run TTS.)

Do you have little kids on your holiday shopping list? This comprehensive list of 100 Blackowned kids brands is sure to help. You’ll probably want to bookmark this one!

We just finished watching season four of The Crown (10/10 recommend!) and the fashion was particularly interesting, as this season features some of the ‘Diana years.’ Refinery29 has some excellent comparisons of how the costumes in the show stack up to Diana’s real-life looks.

The New York Times offers a more clinical take on Diana’s clothes, and contends that she is not a fashion icon, but rather wore her emotions in her looks for us all to read.

If you run (or have run) in evangelical circles you’ve probably heard about the affair of a prominent Hillsong pastor. However, there are some big-picture ‘takeaways’ worth noting, particularly the ‘hot pastor’ problem that megachurches might be cultivating.

I hope you all got a chance to slow down and enjoy the holiday. (That is one unexpected benefit of this pandemic, the chance to slow down.) This week on the blog I have some fun posts coming up including how our family is approaching Christmas this year AND I’m finally reviewing an item from The Curated. Stay tuned! xx
