Never underestimate the power of a well-tailored item of clothing. Yes, I love, love a good cardigan, and I almost live in them these days, but there is something that feels so good about switching out my ‘comfies’ for some clothes that make feel sharp.
Jackets and blazers are my drug of choice these days. They are an antidote to my perpetual ‘house clothes’. Even if I only wear them for a few hours, it’s a nice mood boost. And the bonus: you can throw on a blazer or jacket over your comfiest jeans and softest sweater and the look is transformed. Heck, you can even throw a smart jacket on over a lounge suit and look like you’re straight out of NYC.
My current favorite jacket? This Windowpane Elmcourt coat from Madewell. This makes it a little bit thicker and warmer than most ‘top coat’ style jackets.

Madewell is having a pretty big Black Friday sale right now. It seems more like ‘Black Week’ for many retailers as they share their sales and discounts way before Thanksgiving. I never want to encourage you to shop if it’s not your plan. But if it is your plan, it’s a great time to use sales to your advantage. I keep a short list in the notes section of my phone for items on my wish list. I’ll be checking it this week to see if any of the items I want go on sale, and I might buy one off my list.

This is the cheapest I’ve ever seen the jeans I am wearing. They are super comfy and I wear mine multiple times per week!
