It’s time for another outfit roundup! Lately I’ve been feeling really motivated to get dressed as a way of claiming some normalcy in a very abnormal time. With the pandemic worsening and the divide over things like mask-wearing growing, pulling together a nice outfit is one of the very few things I can control. Exercising, showering, getting dressed, even putting on a little lip color are things that help me feel good. No shade if that’s not for you, I think we all have our own forms of self-care. Mine also involves wine, gummy bears and good food. But I’m getting off topic. I hope you are indulging in a form of self-care you love right now (hot baths, books, chocolate, good TV?) I’d love to hear!
This is what I’ve been wearing over the past two weeks…
Jeans and a Sweater

My winter uniform is in full bloom. Made a little cooler with cool boots I splurged on early in the fall. It’s probably the most I’ve ever paid for a single item (and I even bought them on sale!), but I have no regrets. They’ve met and exceeded my expectations. You can read my review on them here.
Sweater (S), c/o, limited sizes (similar)
Jeans (27) – super on sale at 50% off!
Boots (41) (similar for less)
My Seinfeld Shirt

My husband literally laughed out loud when I put this on. He thought I was joking! I, of course, am not. I’ve never been so sure of a shirt in my life. Just try and talk me out of it! Bonus: it’s a thick, woven cotton and warm enough to wear without a sweater!
These pants sort of make me miss my Kamm pants, but these ones are a 1000% more comfortable, so I’m okay with sacrificing a bit of vanity.
Top (M), on sale here, more sizes here
Pants (27), last season (similar)
Shoes (9.5)
Lady in Red

Wow, it’s been a minute since I’ve owned a red item of clothing. Though it’s a bit brick-red. It reminds me of a sweater I had and loved from J.Crew when I was in college, a lambswool zip up. (Remember when J.Crew used to make their sweaters from 100% wool and they would last forever? That was nice. And when we used to order from catalogs too? And over the phone?! What a time!)
I have felt emboldened to wear more color lately (maybe it’s a subconscious reaction to the semi-bleak world around me) and I am having fun with it. This shade of red is fantastic and I’m so glad I went for it instead of adding another tan sweater to my closet. I love the way the red looks with the espresso brown boots.
Annie Sweater (M), c/o (made with 100% Spanish merino wool and truly amazing!)

The Red Story Continues

Annie Sweater (M), c/o
Peasant Top (M/L), c/o
Overalls (S) – Also on sale!
Boots (10), c/o
Still feeling the color red, especially when I can wear multiple red pieces in an outfit, and keep the color palette relatively minimal. I also call this my farmer look.
The Scarf That *almost* Got Away

Last fall, I fell in love with this pink melange scarf, but shied away from it and bought the color I thought I ‘should.’ If you’ve been a reader for a long time, you know that I think the word ‘should’ is a red flag when it comes to styling outfits and making purchases. The ‘shoulds’ often lead us astray to no-man’s land because they usually get in the way of our instincts (aka, inner style beacons). I am happy to say this fall I sold the ‘should’ scarf and finally got the pink melange scarf. And it makes me very happy. Another item exceeding my expectations, yay!
Quilted Jacket (M), c/o

Graphic Tee + Some Greatest Hits

If I’ve had an item in my closet for close to five years (and I still like it), I like to think of it as part of my ‘greatest hits’ collection. These boots and sweater are still going strong (they are both circa fall 2016). The sweater is extremely well made (soft, warm alpaca) and the boots have the kind of leather that patinas beautifully with wear. They look great with this fun tee and my current go-to jeans.

Gloria Tee (M), c/o
Jeans (27) – super on sale

Black and Tan

The jury is still out on these black jeans. I really wanted an updated fit for my black jeans, but these feel a little rectangular. Only time will tell. But the ‘ribcage’ rise is pretty fantastic! Love the black and tan color story here.

Top, Esby
Jeans (27)
Booties, Sevilla Smith
The Jacket

Changing the station from my steady stream of black jackets to something more exciting! I super love this mustard-brown window pane jacket. It’s thick and warm. I am wearing it super casual here, but I think it would look even better with a dressy outfit.
Jacket (S), c/o – currently 30% off!
Sweater (S), c/o
Crossbody Bag – 25% off
Jeans, thrifted vintage
Sneakers (10), c/o Thousand Fell, super love these
TGIFF

Thank goodness it’s Fancy Friday!! I’ve been pinning and pining away to wear a blazer, so I produced a blazer outfit today. Super easy, warm and cozy, paired with my softest stretchy jeans, so it feels super unfussy. Plus it will really make it feel like Friday when I change into my loungewear after dinner! Not pictured: pop of color with my bright maroon shiny socks!
Oversized Blazer (4, I sized down), c/o
Merino Turtleneck, thrifted (similar in cotton)

How are you liking the Everlane cotton quilted jacket?
I really like it! I would say if it gets below the upper 40’s I need a warmer jacket though. I do like the length and the color and washability.
