Pretty Prints to Wear for the Holidays (Or anytime, really)

Now that Halloween has passed, all eyes are on the holidays! Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and more, ’tis the season for feeling festive! And by all accounts, I think we get to start a little early this year, because 2020.

I know so many of us are staying home, trying to do our part to keep Covid from spreading, and that means the holidays are going to look different than we’d like. But we can still decorate our homes, buy our loved ones gifts, cook wonderful meals, and *dress up!* Putting on an extra nice outfit is one of the surest ways to add a bit of ‘occasion’ to your day without ever leaving the house. For that reason, I feel like holiday style is particularly important this year.

Today I am sharing a top and a dress, two items that can be used to make beautiful holiday outfits *AND* some excellent everyday looks. (I love, love when items pull double-duty and these ones don’t disappoint.) They are both made with original Hackwith Design House custom prints. The team designed the fabric in-house and then had it made in LA with ultra-soft, 100% cotton fabric. I am so excited to show you how I’m wearing them.

This post is in partnership with Hackwith Design House, based in Minnesota where each item is designed and made. Hackwith is a long-time partner of Seasons + Salt, and I hope you love them as much as I do! Purchases made with the ‘seasons15’ discount code will earn a commission for S+S.

Peasant Blouse – in Mahogany Floral Print

This deep red, printed fabric immediately caught my eye. I love the subtle, floral print and the way the colors mingle together. The Peasant Blouse is gathered at the collar and sleeves, which makes it a light and stretchy blouse, easy to get on and off. I love the soft, feminine shape of this top. The ruching around the neckline creates a gentle puff sleeve at my shoulders and wrists, adding a small touch of whimsy.

When taking pictures for this post, I could not decide which shoes I liked best, so I am going to show you both. The first pair is a more dressy option, something I might wear for a holiday dinner at home. (In reality, I think I’d prefer to wear black flats instead of pumps, but I don’t have any.)

Sizing note: I tried two sizes in this top and found the M/L to be the best fit. The length runs on the shorter side.

The second pair of shoes I’m wearing reflect a more casual outfit, something I would totally wear for an ordinary day, except I might add a cozy cardigan on top! It would be super cute with Chucks too.

Provence Dress in Almond Floral Print

This is the kind of live-in dress that dreams are made of. It’s the ultimate relaxed-fit piece and, if you add heels or clogs, you suddenly look really pulled together. This would be perfectly romantic to wear to a holiday dinner. You could go for clogs, or swap in lace-up boots. Mules would be cute too. The Provence Dress offers a lot of drama with the volume play, but the neutral print keeps it understated. I think this dress would look super cute with a low bun and big hoop earrings. And, as you can see below, I had some ideas on how to dress it up and how to wear it for a ‘normal’ day at home.

Sizing notes: I am wearing an XS/S in this dress.

The fabric of this dress is ultra-lightweight, which makes it easy to wear because it’s not heavy. However, on a cold day, tights or even a light turtleneck underneath might be needed. Or, as I prefer, my wear-over-everything Babaa cardigan. I love the way the light, neutral yarn complements this print. Sweats are fun, but I am sort of in love with the idea of a ‘house dress’! Hackwith also recently released the Adelaide Dress with a ruched bodice, that’s worth a peek too!

  1. My fave is the dress and clogs!
Your hair is so cute.  Did you cut it?  I have been meaning to try a center part since growing my hair out but one side is thicker than the other.
    Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Hi Shon! Yes, I finally got my first Covid-cut, and I am so happy about it! I really like a center part because I have a widow’s peak, which just seems to work better with a center part than a side one. I hope your weekend is a good one too!

  2. Hoping you see this, since I’m late to the party, but I was wondering your thoughts on fit of the Agolde 90s Pinch Waist. Do you think they run small or true to size? Thank you!!

    1. Hi Kelly!

I have the 90s Pinch Waist in 2 styles, and BOTH are in my true size. The ones here are quite fitted in my true size. The distressed pair I have runs a bit bigger, even in my true size (but I think a size down would be too tight). Hope that helps!
