Style Session: 3 Everlane Sweaters

This post is sponsored by Everlane, an ongoing partner of Seasons + Salt. All ideas, content and opinions are my own.

Hello! And welcome to the blog version of this Instagram Style + Review session! I am styling and sharing all about the three Everlane sweaters I am into this fall (and winter and beyond!).

The Oversized Stroopwafel Turtleneck in ReCashmere

This is a cozy, slightly oversized, boxy turtleneck sweater. I went with my true size medium, but I could have sized up for an even more oversized fit. I go into a lot of details on the fabric of this sweater over on Instagram. But in a nutshell, it’s soft, durable, and recycled! I am a big fan.

A note on styling: I paired this loose-fitting sweater with a pair of loose-fitting pants – the new Arc Pants from Everlane – for a modern, baggy-inspired look. I think the loose garments work well together and look polished because the pants are cropped (reducing the overall volume) and the boots contrast the loose clothing with a tidy and streamline fit/look. I also love the contrast of the light, crisp ivory, and the dark, espresso brown.

Further styling: I think this sweater would be great with a pair of fitted, cropped jeans, or long and loose over a midi skirt (or midi dress!).

The Oversized Stroopwafel Crew in ReCashmere

I was highly motivated to try out this sweater because of the COLOR. I am a sucker for this reddish-brown shade. However, I was not looking to add any more oversized crewnecks to my closet (more on that below), so I was curious to see if this would work in a smaller size. And it turns out, it’s great! The length is nice and short (but not too short), the body is relaxed but not too big, and the sleeves are not too short. This one is a win for me because it feels like an everyday sweater I can wear with lots of items.

A note on styling: The sweater is an easy complement to these flares and their leg-lengthening magic. (They look extra lengthening with the chunky shoes!) I paired the sweater and jeans together because I thought the dark, rich tones would work well together.

Further styling: I plan to wear this sweater with everything I can, haha. This is one of my favorite colors to wear. When I did a deep dive on my personal coloring a few years ago, one of the things I learned is that I have low-contrast coloring, aka, my hair isn’t super dark, and my skin isn’t very light (more medium tone) and my eye color is medium-to light. This means that less-saturated and less-bold colors work better for me. If I wear something too saturated it tends to wear me instead of the other way around. The color of this cinnamon sweater is spot on for me, so I hope to work it into many outfits. Including: with black jeans, with a black skirt, with vintage jeans, and anything else I can think of. I find the fit of this sweater, sized down 1x, is very universal.

The Oversized Alpaca Crew

As I mentioned in my stories, I have this sweater style in 3 (!!) colors, and I’ve been wearing it since it came out a year (maybe two?!) ago. If you want details on why I love it so much you can check my Instagram stories today (I’ll save them to my ‘Everlane’ highlights too!). In brief: this sweater has 3 things I love: warmth, it is light in weight (doesn’t feel heavy at all) and it has excellent curves (fitted hem, cuffs, shapely arms). This sweater has a similar fit to the one above, but the fabric sits a little different because it’s less weighty.

A note on styling: This sweater is a good one to wear with high-waisted pants because it’s light and you can easily flip the hem under and front tuck it. I love pairing black with light wash denim, I think it feels interesting and contrasty. The chunky boots make the slim-fit pants more interesting for me.

Further styling: I have worn this sweater in so many ways over the last year+. I’ve tucked it into skirts (again, the lightweight fabric makes the front tuck easy!), I’ve worn it with Kamm pants, vintage jeans, slim-fit jeans, and more. This winter I might try it with a mini skirt and tights, and I’ll see what it looks like with some loose-fit jeans!

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Oversized Alpaca Crew (M), gifted, but have purchased 2x in other colors
90s Cheeky Straight Jean, 27 gifted
Platform Boots, Dr. Martens (9 – runs big)

Thank you so much for reading along today! If you have any questions about any of these three sweaters, feel free to let me know in the comments. And if you want further details, and to see them in motion, head over to Instagram.

  1. I love them all! I just ordered the cashmere turtuleneck in heather gray (my first Everlane sweater!) does anyone have any experience with Everlane cashmere (i.e. durability, care suggestions etc.)?

    1. Hi Emma! Sorry for my delay in reply. I have had a few Everlane cashmere sweaters over the years, and the best secret I have to keeping them looking good has been to keep them *out* of the wash. I usually wear a thin tee underneath to keep them clean. I air them out for a day afterward, and then fold them back up in my closet. I never hang them. Lastly, depending on the style, they can get a little pilly at high friction points (underarms). I use a sweater comb to get the pills off when needed.

      1. Thanks Andrea! I will do ALL of those things! it was a bit of a splurge so I want to make sure I get the most out of it!
Ps I also live in the PNW so your outfit inspiration is spot on!

  2. Any chance you can share how you wash your alpaca sweaters?! It says dry clean only on the tag but I’m wondering if anyone has experience either hand washing or machine washing on the “hand wash” setting?

    1. Hi Nina, that is a great question, and one I should probably write a blog post on! I *never* wash my sweaters. Instead I wear a thin tee underneath them 100% of the time and that helps keep the sweat/deodorant off them and they stay pretty clean. Also: I always let them air out for a day or so before I fold them back up and put them away.

  3. My Ivory turtleneck just arrived, it is stunning and beautifully made. Thanks for sharing this beauty!
