A Few Early Fall Favorites from Everlane

This post is sponsored by Everlane, an ongoing partner of Seasons + Salt. All ideas, content and opinions are my own.

Who remembers how to dress for fall? It seems like it’s been a long time since I’ve dressed for cooler weather or in considered layers. Coming out of summer, and a spring in quarantine, means so much of what I’ve worn has been warm-weather, around-the-house outfits. Now that it’s cooling down I’m ready for a change.

This fall, I’m excited about clothes that look good, but still feel good for at-home life (and beyond). I’m looking at relaxed jeans or pants with stretch, warm tops and shoes without heels. I love the idea of clothes that look good but also work for many occasions. In other words, outfits that are good for: working from home, a neighborhood walk, running errands, AND a socially distant happy hour.

Today, I’m sharing a few of my fall favorites from Everlane, items that fall squarely in the category I mentioned above – casual and comfortable, and, of course, stylish.

OUTFIT 1: Merino Rib Turtleneck + Cheeky Cords

Everlane hit it out of the park with this turtleneck release earlier this month. I’ve been an avid turtleneck wearer for a few years, and it’s been a bit of a goldilocks story. One of mine is too tight at the neck, another is too thin in the fabric, and one of them is very hard to fit over my head. This merino turtleneck is a game changer for me! It’s luxe, soft, stretchy, clingy, and I’m in love with this cinnamon color. The only downside for me is that I need to wash it by hand. But I’m happy to do that to keep it looking good.

These cords are a super fun addition to Everlane’s line up. I like that they are high-waisted, and have a bit of a cigarette fit, which makes them a great option for pairing with my big winter sweaters. They seem to run a bit smaller, I am wearing my usual size and they are very snug! But not uncomfortable.

I styled this outfit with the Cotton Quilted Jacket from last year. This jacket is a good fit for my lifestyle because it’s machine washable and dryable and it looks good with everything. Additionally, I saw that Everlane has some really pretty shades of their ReNew liners that just dropped. Those look like a great option for a midlayer.

OUTFIT 2: Alpaca Crop Cardigan + Flare Jeans

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Everlane’s alpaca sweaters (you can see more here!). I love the lightweight, ultra soft, warm fabric so much that I own the crewneck in more than one color. I was super stoked to see a new shade this year – heathered chai. Warm tones are my go-to for everything I wear, and this color makes me so happy! The cardigan style is a fun change for me. I believe this style was around last year, but this is my first time trying it. It’s described as a crop, but it still hits just past my hips. I love the fitted wrists and blouse-y sleeves. For this outfit I did a full-tuck for the cardigan, but I also like it front tucked and worn open.

I’m wearing the Modern Flare with the cardigan, and I wanted to highlight these pants for you guys, even though I got them last year and I’ve shared them before. They are a great option for flares because they are soft, stretchy and LONG. These run true to size. My pair is a bit loose because I’ve recently gone down a size, but I’m considering getting them in my current size for a better fit. If you’re ordering a pair, stick with your true size.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Cropped Alpaca Cardigan (M), c/o Everlane
Modern Flare, c/o Everlane (see paragraph above for sizing notes)
Court Sneaker (10), Everlane
Purse, old from Baggu

On a semi-related note, I recently bought myself a Perform Bra for my morning workouts, and I really like it. It’s really comfortable, and I highly recommend it for people who need medium support.

Thanks for reading along & happy fall styling!

  1. Have you found that the cords stretch? Some people said in the reviews to order a size down because they get baggy.

    1. Hmm, I haven’t worn mine enough yet to see if they stretch. I think if I sized down they would be too tight in the waist. So I guess it depends if your true size is usually snug or relaxed fit.

  2. Is the merino turtleneck itchy? I love a good turtleneck, but the ones I have rarely get worn because of the itch factor.

    1. No, it’s very, very soft. I suspect that is due to the fabric composition which is: 80% Extrafine Merino Wool, 18% Nylon, 2% Elastane. That Nylon is what makes it soft (and durable).
