Do you know what I’ve been craving this fall? SIMPLICITY. In all aspects of my life. Maybe it’s because we just moved and there is stuff everywhere, or maybe it’s a gut reaction to the busyness of school and sports schedules this time of year. But deep in my soul I’m craving simplicity, in my weekdays, my family time, and even my personal time. I’ll share more about this in coming blog posts. And, of course, I’m craving simplicity in my wardrobe.
The onset of fall means there are so many options for getting dressed. Layering is a possibility again, boots are on the table, sweaters, scarves, outerwear, it’s all fair game. However, I often tend to get overwhelmed when trying to figure out where to start.
Often, I find it best to go back to the basics, the simple building blocks of your wardrobe. Today, I’m partnering with Hackwith Design House to show you my very favorites from their Core Collection. These pieces can be styled over and over again to your heart’s content. They are basics that serve up an excellent foundation to a good outfit because they’re simple, chic and interchangeable.
EASY WIDE LEG PANT:

The Specs:
The Easy Wide Leg Pant is made from 100% silk noil and comes in three basic colors: Ivory, Bronze and Black. The size range is XS-XL and plus sizing of +1 through +4. For me, these pants run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size medium. I’m 5’7 and the pants hit about two inches above my ankle.
How I’m Wearing Them:
The Easy Wide Leg Pant lives up to its name (emphasis on easy). I knew right away I wanted to try them for a simple, dressed up look. I added a deep green top, black suede pumps and gold jewelry for an outfit I will 100% wear around the holidays.
The pants would also be really cute with a cropped sweater (I love this one) and lace up boots, for a warmer outfit. Silk noil feels warmer to the touch than traditional silk and it has a lovely texture. I would not recommend these pants for extended outdoor wear in cooler temperatures. They would be good for wearing in an office or classroom, most scenarios where you will spend more time indoors than out. Of course in the spring and summer they would make great outdoor pants too.

LONG SLEEVE BLOUSE

The beauty of this top is that it can be worn forward or backward, and you can knot it up too. I love this top because it’s such a feminine take on a button up. The balloon sleeves are gorgeous, and I love the subtle gathering around the neckline and shoulders. It gives the top a nice, soft shape while remaining chic and understated.
The Specs:
The Long Sleeve Blouse comes in the same colors as the pants: Ivory, Bronze and Black and is made from 100% silk noil. The size run is: XS/S, M/L, XL, +1/2 and +3/4. I’m wearing the M/L and it is an easy, comfortable fit through the shoulders, body and sleeves. I do have to unbutton the sleeves to fit it over my hands. I don’t mind because the slim wrists add to the balloon sleeve effect.
How I’m Wearing It:
I knew right away I wanted to pair this feminine top with my distressed denim. I like the way the two contrast. This top would also look great fully tucked into a pair of high waisted pants, or tied at the navel.

TOGETHER

Perhaps the most bold look of the three, but I kind of love the oversized-ness of it all. I am inspired by the idea of a cozy twinset like this, good for lounging around the house, comfy like sweats, but way more chic. Or, you could do a full tuck with the shirt and throw on some pumps or snakeskin boots for a nighttime look. When you have good foundation pieces – items that are well made, simple, but still interesting – the possibilities are endless. You can easily create a pared down look because the items stand well on their own, or you can zhuzh them up!

Hi Andrea, I love both the items on you – the pants especially are swoon worthy! I have a few questions, if you don’t mind :)
What is the maintenance like, do they have to be hand washed and dried? I wish Hackwith shared the inseam and hip measurements on these, would be easier to pick a size then.
Secondly, how do these compare in terms of fit to Only Child’s Cove (my fav), and ES’s Florence pants? Thank you so much!
Hi Pav, great questions! I just measured my mediums, and maybe that will help. The inseam is 24″ and the total length is 39″ and they are about 25″ across when measured flat on the hips. For maintenance, the tag says handwash, but I usually wash my raw silk in the machine on cold in very small loads, and I lay flat to dry.
As for how they compare to the other styles you mentioned, these have pockets (I think the Coves do now too), and the hem seam is a lot smaller. It’s maybe less than in inch and more subtle than the bigger seam on the other styles. And lastly the leg is wide, but a little less flared at the end if that makes sense. Hope this helps! Let me know if you think of anything else.
Thank you SO much! This really helped. A 24” inseam doesn’t seem too intimidating :) plus pockets! Thank you for the discount code :)
That blouse is so… YOU!! Perfection
Thank you friend
Hello! Love this post. Would you mind sharing the brand of the snakeskin booties that you are wearing in the story?
Hi Erica, you bet! They are the Ralf Combat Boot by Freda Salvador!
