the Weekly Rundown: Balloon Sweaters + Hispanic Heritage Month

Fall fashion has temporarily taken over my brain. I keep eyeing balloon sweaters (love the one pictured above) and denim. Have you guys shopped Frank & Oak before? They are new to me, and I find these jeans intriguing.

I’m swooning over this brown vintage check top from ESBY’s fall/winter collection. It’s sort of preppy and bohemian all rolled into one top.

If you’re in the market for anything from Everlane, today only they are offering two-day shipping. I think the Teddy Liner is super cute, and if it wasn’t so similar to my fleece I would consider adding one. I am happy they added more colors in the Oversized Alpaca Crew, I just ordered the Heathered Java.

Song of Style breaks down some trends from New York Fashion Week. I can pretend these high-fashion styles don’t apply to me or my life, but then I remember that scene in “The Devil Wear’s Prada” where Meryl Streep’s character explains the trickle-down effect of trends.

An inside look at what NYFW is really like. (No thank you.)

Do you keep your old journals? I am 100% guilty of having a box full stashed in storage. After reading this though I plan to shred them!

This photographic essay about our smart phone-based world left me a little haunted.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Mother magazine is sharing 15 movies and TV shows that celebrate hispanic and latinx culture. Bonus: they’re ranked by age-appropriateness for kids! This is a great opportunity to teach our kids and counteract the ‘othering’ that often happens with non-white culture.

It’s officially chili season in the PNW. I made this vegetarian chili last weekend and it was such a big hit I plan to repeat it ASAP.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend!

  1. I’m all into fall but here it doesn’t seem to start soon.
Last weekend the temperatures were almost summer-ish and there was a lot of sunshine as well.
But just like you I see lovely fall items everywhere and I want to add them all to my wardrobe lol.
I ordered the Tig sweatshirt from Aliya Wanek in Canyon (a beautiful rust colour) and can’t wait for it to arrive so I can put it on.
I had planned to order the new wide leg denim jeans from Everlane as soon as my size will be availabe but now that I saw the one from Frankie & Oak I’m not so sure anymore.
Love that one and it’s nice that it’s not cropped…..
So time will tell what I will do.
If you order it will you do a review :-) ?
Enjoy the fall and I will take a look at your chili recipe.
We love chili and a new recipe is alway welcome.

  2. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the quality of Frank + Oak (and I can attest to that only based on the two items I picked up at a sample sale in Montreal ages ago), but perhaps things have changed.

That veggie chili looks *delicious* and may warrant turning down the A/C so we can pretend it’s cold enough out to eat chili!

    Have a great week!

    1. Interesting about Frank + Oak. I ordered two tees and a pair of jeans, so I’ll keep you posted. However, it’s been four days since I placed the order and they still haven’t shipped yet. 🤔 I hope it cools down for you soon Krystal. Are you guys still thinking about moving?

      1. Thank you! Hoping to get some relief when we head to Europe in a couple weeks. Would love to hear your thoughts on the F+O items!

And yes, moving is still the goal! I shared a little in my last newsletter, but haven’t made a formal post yet! We are planning to move to Charlotte, NC at the end of October/start of November. Lots to do before then, but I’m looking forward to it – thanks for checking in!
