[86-90/99] The End + Thoughts for Fall

Today’s post wraps up my 99 Days of Summer Style series. It’s been great to have an extra motivating force for getting dressed this summer and, for the most part, I’ve enjoyed documenting my outfits.

These last few weeks it’s been a bit of a challenge to take photos while being on the road. And now that cool weather has hit, I am feeling the pinch of living out of a suitcase packed with summer clothes.

With that in mind, I’m bidding this closet challenge good bye a few days early. I’m going to take a week or so off from documenting my outfits, and then I hope to roll out a new format in October (I can’t wait!). By then we should be moved into our new home, and my sweaters will be out of storage.

Right now, here’s what I’ve been wearing.

I’m still in that awkward, ‘it’s cold, what do I wear?’ transition of fall. Last Tuesday, I opted for double denim and my washable silk shirt, which I super, super love. I have also realized it looks just as cute untucked as it does tucked in.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Shrunken Denim Jacket (M), c/o Everlane
Washable Silk Relaxed Shirt (6), c/o Everlane
Cheeky Bootcut Jean (28), c/o Everlane
Hair On Flats, Sevilla Smith

90's Loafer by Everlane

Warm tones for cool weather, it must be fall! I’m taking baby steps to break these loafers in. I love the way these shoes look and feel, but breaking them in is definitely a process. I’ve been building up to wearing them more and more each day.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Sweater Jacket, c/o Hackwith Design House (from FW’17, no longer available)
Collarless Air Shirt (6), c/o Everlane
Jeans, Vintage Levi’s (501) (super similar in a high rise)
90’s Loafer (10.5), c/o Everlane

Everlane Air Tee, Bryr Clogs

There’s something about white t-shirts that makes me so happy to wear them. On Wednesday, I experimented with an oversized fit, and fell in love with the extra long sleeves. It feels effortless and interesting. I was inspired by Brianna and, though I initially tried a thick men’s tee, I liked the drape of the Air tee better. To get the look I sized up in this shirt, and I love the result.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Air Oversized Crew Tee (L), Everlane
90’s Cheeky Jean (27), c/o Everlane
Clementine Clog (41), c/o Bryr
Medallion Necklace, Missoma

The more I pay attention to details, the more fun I have with my clothing. I love the frilly top paired with the utilitarian sneakers. It says: “I’m feminine, but not too girly” and “I’m practical, but I like to have fun.”

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Eyelet Peplum top, sold out (like this option even better!)
Jeans, Vintage Levi’s (501) (super similar in a high rise)
Sneakers (41), Veja (more sizes in this style)
The Day Mini Tote, c/o Everlane (it looks like a few bags in this color are back in stock!)

I got my blazer! This thing is amazing, and soft and warm. I am not doing it justice here with my photo and I think I’m going to try and create an IGTV video with it in the next few weeks. I tried it on with white sneakers and it was so cute, and I want to try it with lace up boots too! Who says you can’t have fun with cold weather fashion?!

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Oversized Blazer (4, I sized down), Everlane
Pima Micro Rib Scoop Neck Tee (M), Everlane
Jeans, vintage Levi’s 517’s, Etsy
90’s Loafer (10.5), c/o Everlane
The Day Mini Tote, c/o Everlane

  1. I love that blazer! A blazer is on my fall list of things to buy. The Everlane version is a little out of my price range, so I am looking for a thrifted vintage one instead. I’ve found several cool Pendleton ones on eBay that I’m considering. It’s still hotter than hades here most days so I won’t need it for at least 3 or 4 more weeks! Also, have you found the Everlane loafers required a good deal of breaking in? Is there any kind of arch support? It’s hard for me to find comfortable shoes that can take being on my feet all day. I have been stuck in Dansko ballet flats, which are not at all hideous, but not the most fashion forward! 😀

    1. Rebecca, another person I know found this Everlane blazer on Poshmark! That might be worth a look! Pendleton ones sound cool too. Yes the loafers are really stiff but are finally getting softer. The have a nice support for my heels and feel pretty good, but I don’t think there’s a ton of arch support. It’s HARD to find cute ‘on your feet’ shoes. Good thing there are so many cool sneakers right now!

  2. I’ve always had good luck with Madewell loafers. The black ones I have are worn out, but I’ve had them for about 6 years and worn them frequently. I bought a pair of Everlane loafers and they were so beautiful but so uncomfortable I ended up giving them away. May purchase some Bass Weejuns. I love the throw-back vibe.

    1. I just looked up the Bass Weejuns, SO cute. I always love a good throwback vibe too. Yes, Everlane shoes are not for everyone, they can be very stiff and difficult to break in. Good luck with your loafer hunt!
