Everlane Lately: Fall Picks (Living My Best 90’s Life)

This post is sponsored by Everlane, one of my very favorites! All ideas, opinions and content are my own.

You guys, I have been DEEP in summer mode, and I honestly hadn’t even had an inkling of a thought for fall — until recently. I took a peek at Everlane’s Coming Soon page, and I saw these gorgeous, brown croc, square toe loafers and it was game on.

Let me just stop right here and tell you my loafer sob story. I have been wanting a pair of Everlane’s Modern Loafers for years. I lusted after them for a long time. And then, in 2015, I bought them in two sizes and they still didn’t fit (they squeezed my toes too much). End of sad story. Until now!

In today’s Everlane Lately post I’m taking those new square toe loafers for a spin (yay!). And I’ll be sharing three outfits that include a mix of my current closet favorites and some new releases for fall.

I love the preppy vibe of this outfit, and I surprised myself by feeling so compelled to pull it together. The loafers and the jean jacket feel very throwback to me but the color of the top and wash of the jeans are decidedly modern.

I’m thrilled that Everlane has incorporated new warm tones into their fall color palette. In the past, their colors have been cool, or the wrong warm tone for me. Here I’m wearing the Short-Sleeve Turtleneck in Cider, and it’s a beautiful warm orangey-brown shade that’s rich, but not too bright.

And, in case you missed it, Everlane released a new style of jeans last week, the Cheeky Bootcut. I shared quite a bit about them in this post, but suffice to say, I’m a fan. Several people commented that they’re pretty narrow in the leg for a bootcut, and I agree. They are almost like a baby boot, definitely nowhere near a flare. I love them because the fit is great, especially through the hips and thigh, and the waist is nice and high. I am also a fan of the raw hem.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Shrunken Denim Jacket (M), c/o Everlane
Short-Sleeve Turtleneck (M), c/o Everlane (love the slight crop on this shirt!)
Cheeky Bootcut Jean (28R), c/o Everlane (the waist on these was a little tight at first, but relaxed after a few days of wear)
90’s Loafer (10.5), c/o Everlane
(8/26). Click here to waitlist. I am wearing them in the same size I wear in the Day Boot and Day Glove.
The Day Mini Tote, c/o Everlane
Medallion Necklace, Missoma
Gold Hoops, ABLE

I love wearing breezy and flowy outfits. They make me feel relaxed! I don’t wear a ton of silk, in fact this is one of only two in my closet. But the front pockets piqued my interest and the washable factor sealed the deal. I love the soft texture and the drape of this shirt. It would probably look awesome if you sized up and went for an oversized look too. This color is definitely up my alley, just like the turtleneck top in the previous outfit, it’s a warm tone, but still muted enough to work with my natural coloring (I tend to look overwhelmed in bright colors). It also comes in four other colors (Black, Bone, Blue-Grey and Covert Green) and I think the Bone would make a great candidate for a #stickofbutter look!

Styling button up tops can be tricky. They often make me feel like I’m ‘headed to the office.’ To keep this one casual and cool I paired it with relaxed fit wide leg pants, which are pretty laid-back looking, and a playful, woven bag. If I wanted it to be even more casual I could swap the loafers for sandals or clogs.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Washable Silk Top (6), c/o Everlane
Wide Leg Chino (6) Everlane (Still really loving these pants! I have them in two colors.)
90’s Loafer (10.5), c/o Everlane
Woven Bag, thrifted
Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
Her Only Dress necklace c/o, save 15% with the code ‘SEA&SALT’

LOOK THREE: 90’s-LOVIN’

I wasn’t planning on styling three looks for this post, but I couldn’t help myself with this last one! I saw the items laying together and knew it would be really cute! This look isn’t super styled, but it’s a perfect example of the kind of outfit I wear all the time: simple, but interesting.

Obviously, I’m a fan of this top, I have it in two colors. It’s a fantastic update on a basic tee – just as easy and comfortable, but a little more styled. Pairing it with the light wash, 90’s style jeans is contrasty and interesting. And finishing the look with these croc style loafers is the icing on top!

A quick note on fit and sizing of these loafers. I took them in my usual Everlane size and they felt great out of the box. I walked a little too much the first time I wore them so they rubbed on my heels. but I expect with a little more wear the leather will soften and feel better.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Short-Sleeve Turtleneck (M), c/o Everlane
90’s Cheeky Jean (27), c/o Everlane
90’s Loafer (10.5), c/o Everlane
Classic Shoulder Bag, Cuyana
Sunglasses, c/o Just Human
Medallion Necklace, Missoma

What are you excited to wear this fall? I’m definitely feeling the classics: turtleneck tops, jeans and loafers. They are basic pieces, but there’s nothing basic about them. I can’t wait to mix and match them with the rest of my wardrobe (and sweaters!) this fall.

  1. I love the last look so much because it has that put-together but still a little “off” quality that I do intentionally in my outfits. I never feel comfortable in mock-necks, but the light wash denim with the loafers is so good.

    1. Are you saving your detailed thoughts on the loafers for another post? Looking forward to hear more on them
I have to say I really look forward to your Everlane posts, always enjoy the photos & very useful information. Can’t think of any other regular sponsored posts elsewhere that I feel the same!

      1. Hi Haj, great question. I really love the look and the fit of them, but haven’t worn them extensively yet. I did make a few sizing notes in the post. Would kind of information about them would be helpful to you?

      1. Oops think I messed up a thread. Would love to know how much the leather softens & if the comfort level is more modern loafer or one of the day series. I was never really happy comfort wise (just felt hard) with my modern loafer, so although I love the look of this new one, a little nervous. Thanks Andrea!

        1. Hi Haj, I think the square toe loafer is going to be on par with Modern Loafer in terms of comfort. The leather is pretty rigid. I will be curious to see what they do over time.

  2. What has been your experience with the washable silk shirt? Is it easy to care for? Will it hold up?
I am intrigued because I absolutely refuse to wear dry clean-only clothes (fancy coats and the rare cashmere sweater are a different story) because of the hassle, expense, and the fact that it will drastically reduce the amount of times I feel compelled to wear the item – anything dry clean only always feels too fancy for a normal day – like is it “worth” wearing today? – and I end up not getting much use out of those items.

    1. Hi Mallory, I have not washed this shirt yet, but here’s my 2 cents. My other silk shirt is also by Everlane and I machine wash that one and it’s done great. This new silk shirt is slightly thicker (read: heartier) than my other one, so I expect it to hold up just as well in the wash. I typically wash my silk on cold in my front-loaders on gentle cycle and then drape over a drying rack to dry. I am with you, I loathe dry cleaning and avoid buying ‘dry clean only’ at all costs!

  3. I am so excited about the washable silk shirt! I did a little happy dance when I found out about it. Would you say the square loafers would work better for those of us with wider feet? Thanks!

    1. Hi Sarah! The loafers work well for my feet, which are often too wide for Everlane styles. I would call my feet slightly wider than average, so I think there is some wiggle room in these loafers.

  4. Hi Andrea!
Is it me or cognac is a trend for this Fall? Anyway, I loooove the outfits and you gave me several ideas for my own. Thanks!
    Alejandra

    1. Hi Alejandra, I think so! Especially the orangey version of cognac! It seems to be everywhere right now! Glad I could give you some ideas! I am starting to get excited about fall!

  5. It’s interesting that you say that Everlane colors are often too cool — as someone who needs a cool palette, I have found the opposite. They seem to do a lot of muted, warm stuff and often have cool options (like that cute short sleeve turtleneck which is unfortunately almost totally sold out) in black and white. Anyway, great post, maybe they’ll restock that turtleneck!

    1. Hi Ella, that’s interesting! They definitely have expanded their color range quite a bit, and I imagine they will continue to do so. I hope they restock that turtleneck too, I’ll see what I can find out!

  6. Hi Andrea,

I found your blog while looking for reviews on Everlane’s cheeky jean. I’ve recently been trying to re-do my wardrobe focusing on slow/sustainable companies. I’ve searched through some of your archives and can’t find a review on the box cut tee. Have you tried? I look forward to reading future posts from you!

    Best,
    Elizabeth
