Summer is easily one of my favorite times of year: blue skies, hot afternoons, warm nights, vacations, camping, relaxed schedules, I could go on. But summer is typically NOT my favorite ‘clothing season’ (*cough,* fall). This year however, things are shaping up a little differently because Everlane has been killing it with their warm weather offerings. From jumpsuits, to floaty blouses, even some sandals that work for my feet. I can’t wait to share more with you in today’s blog post.
In this third installment of Everlane Lately, I’m doing things a little differently. In addition to sharing my new and old favorites, I’m sharing a few items I tried that did not work out for me.
In this post I will cover:
1 // Which warm weather pieces I’ve recently added
2 // Items I’ve tried out that didn’t work
3 // Current Everlane closet MVPs
WHAT I’VE ADDED
The Linen Jumpsuit
A few weeks ago, Everlane released their first ever jumpsuits and I think they did a great job. As an avid jumpsuit wearer for the last three years, I am excited to see them offering their unique take on the garment style. There are two GoWeave styles (the V-neck one is particularly cute!) and one linen style. Because I prefer linen over the GoWeave fabric I knew that would be the style I went with.
I love the square neckline, it reminds me of the Linen Picnic Top I adore so much. When I shared this jumpsuit on Instagram a few weeks ago, someone asked me if it would work with a tee underneath it, which inspired my look for these photos. The jumpsuit comes with a belt, but I prefer the unbelted look. It feels relaxed and tomboy-ish, balanced by soft, silky linen. I have worn this on some seriously hot days and I love how breezy and cool it feels. The linen is light and airy, less heavy than some mid-weight linens I wear.
Like all linen it shows wrinkles with wear. If you’re looking for a less casual style, or can’t stand wrinkles, the GoWeave styles are a great option!
The Cotton Crew
The Cotton Crew is a slim-fitting classic tee, that reminds me of a man’s white undershirt, but cut for a woman. I like the extra wide ribbed neckline. The slightly long and fitted shape makes it easy for tucking. I’m wearing a size medium which is slim, but still relaxed through the torso. I love the way this tee looks tucked in to distressed denim with layered necklaces over top.
The Air Ruched Blouse
Gah! This is a big win for me. I love, love the style of this top; the soft, curved lines do wonders for my square and straight frame. The Air Ruched Blouse has u-shaped shirt tails which make it easy to tuck into mid-rise jeans. I have similar style tops from a different brand and their straight hemlines make tucking difficult with any non-high waisted bottoms. I appreciate that this blouse can be tucked into a variety of pant or short styles.
This is the white ‘multi-stripe’ color way, and it’s basically white with really light gray stripes. It’s very pretty and almost presents as a soft blue from a distance. The soft airy fabric lives up to its name and is indeed as light as air, which will make it easy to wear all summer long. I styled mine with vintage denim the other day, and I will definitely be repeating the look. Below, you can see how I paired the Air Ruched Blouse with the new Easy Chino Shorts
Easy Chino Shorts (coming 6/13)
Easy is a good word to describe these shorts. They are easy to throw on over a swimsuit, easy to wear on a bicycle, easy to wear to a picnic or a park. They are not sartorial genius, they are easy and practical, which sometimes, is all you need in a garment (particularly in the summer when I want to focus on having fun and not worry about fussy garments). I am wearing a size 6 in the Easy Chino Shorts, but I think I could have sized up to a 8 for an even more relaxed fit. These shorts come out on Thursday, but I believe if you hit ‘waitlist’ on the Coming Soon page, you can get access one day early.
The Day Crossover Sandal
When I saw these on Everlane’s Coming Soon page I thought they would never work for me. I figured they would be too narrow, and that the leather would be too stiff. Boy, was I wrong! After seeing my friend Paige rock these sandals, and a few other folks I follow sing the praises of this ‘butter soft’ leather, I decided to give them a try. The Day Crossover Sandal is ridiculously soft and comfortable, and has a fit similar to the Day Glove. The difference is there is zero break-in time. They were comfortable right out of the box. I took the same size as I wear in the Day Glove, and the shoe has the same, very minimal sole. I love the Rose color, it pairs so well with all the cream, tan and black in my closet!
Destructed Jean Short (not pictured)
I didn’t photograph these to share because they are sold out on Everlane’s site. But I wanted to mention them, in case they get a few pairs back in stock. In the past, when there’s been a sold out item I’ve wanted from Everlane, I’ve had success by checking the website once per day, as sometimes returns mean they get a few sizes back in stock. But you have to be on it, and basically ‘stalk’ the stock or you’ll miss it.
Anyway, about the shorts! I was gifted these and I LOVE the longer inseam. The size is relaxed, and I took the smaller of my two Everlane sizes. They are still very comfortable and relaxed through the waist and hip. I expect to be wearing these a lot this summer.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK
The Patch Pocket Skirt
I had high hopes for this skirt, because the color is so good, but ultimately the fit was not good for me. I love the a-line shape, which usually works well for me, but I probably should have sized up. I didn’t realize that until after I photographed it (photos are so telling, right?) and saw how it bunched under the pockets. The Patch Pocket Skirt is cute for summer, but you may want to consider sizing up when you order.
The Strappy Sandal (not pictured)
I tried these on a whim, feeling influenced by the strappy sandal trend right now. They were super cute out of the box, but I think I just have too much foot for such a minimal sandal. I wear a size 10 or 10.5 and I have a ‘high volume’ foot. I was disappointed for sure. But in the end, I loved the Day Crossover Sandal way more (see above).
EVERLANE CLOSET MVPs RIGHT NOW
Linen Picnic Tops x2
I love these tank tops so much, I have them in two colors. I stalked out the Everlane site until my size came back in stock in black, so I could buy that one too. These are slightly elevated above the basic cotton tanks I wear in the summer and look great with cut-off jeans or long, linen pants.
Wide Leg Chinos x2
You guys, I am such a convert on these! To be totally honest, I have been wearing them more than my Kamm pants because they are SO MUCH more comfortable. I love how high the waist is, how perfectly wide the leg falls, and the lightweight fabric makes them work well in a variety of temperatures. I will be living in these all summer. Right now I am wearing them (I bought a second pair in stone, see above!) at least twice per week. See how I styled my black pair here.
Shrunken Denim Jacket
Still wearing this one! The crop looks so good with jumpsuits and high waisted pants. The relaxed fit feels really good on my shoulders.
Alright, I’ve shared quite a bit today about the Everlane items in my closet. I hope this serves you in your journey to understand design and fit when you order garments online. And as always, feel free to ask any questions you might have in the comments down below!

Your styling of this jumpsuit has pretty much sold me on it. Thanks for these informative posts. I always struggle with dedicating time to things that don’t work, but I love when people share.
I agree Leah, it’s hard to dedicate the time to things that didn’t work, yet I always love when people share too. This time since I had photos, I thought I should just go for it. I will try to continue doing it going forward.
Love that jumpsuit styling! You’re inspiring me to take a look at my crew necks and my striped linen jumpsuit for good color pairing. I love this cute tomboy look so much.
Yay! I love it when I can inspire people to create new combos in their existing closet, I know how good that can feel. I hope it works well for you. Thanks so much for the feedback. :)
Loving all of these looks! The color palette with the Stone chinos and Rose sandals is so perfect for summer. Killing it, girl!
Agreed! I love that combo SO much. I am just going to dress in one-color outfits for the rest of my life.
Love those Easy Chino Shorts! What is the rise like on those?
I’d love to know what the inseam is on them too! Thanks!
11 inches :)
It’s about 11 inches!
OOOOOOOHHHHH I LOVE those wide-leg chinos!
I really, really like them too Lauren. It took me a few weeks of wearing them to really get a feel for them, but I think they have great shape and fit. I love the rise and the length!
Love your picks and the honesty in your review!! Need to pick up that jumpsuit.
You mentioned the shorts are size six but could be eight. Do you have the easy fit pants as well, and if so, in what size? I have the pants in zero but for the shorts it looks like I should be four or six. Also, I just got the same air blouse as you and love it, but it’s sheer. Did you add a cami? Thanks!
Hi Karen! I do not have the easy chino pants, but I tried them on briefly, and the 6 was a good fit for me. I considered sizing up in the shorts mostly for the look of looser, wider shorts, than for the fit. I prefer my shorts looser. But my true size six is still good on those too!
Forgot to add, I do not wear a cami, I just stick with bra colors close to my skintone.
