It’s been a minute since I shared an outfit round up on the blog, and man do I have a lot to share with you guys today! This is essentially my highlight reel from the last few weeks. I love the shapes and fabrics that make up these outfits.
As I hone in on my spring style the theme that stands out to me is: casual-cool, with a bit of a 70’s vibe. Some of my favorite details are: tied shirts, super high waists, frayed hems, long, linen layers, and lots of necklaces.
Keep reading to see what I’ve been wearing lately…
I’m happy that our ‘big coat’ weather is finally over. It’s so nice to be able to head out of the house with a light layer, like this duster or a jean jacket. Putting together outfits is a lot more fun when you know they won’t be buried under a giant puffer.
Since this photo was taken, I put my sweatshirt at the mercy of a pair of sharp scissors and eliminated the bottom hemline. I LOVE the result. It’s slightly cropped and wide at the bottom, and pairs very nicely with my high waisted bottoms.
I struggle with styling tunics in colder weather because I never know what to layer over them to keep warm. They look funny with sweaters that don’t share a similar length, so I often shy away from wearing my one tunic. Feeling thankful for this transition weather that lets me dig into my wardrobe and wear some of the items that have been hiding all winter!
I’m endlessly pleased with this outfit. Canadian tuxedos always act like a style touch stone when I wear them because I feel so at home. I love the shape, wash and rise of these jeans! It doesn’t hurt that the fabric is like butter. I paired them with my old faithful chambray.
I paired sneakers with this dress to add an element of casual. The layer underneath makes the outfit even more functional and a tad more casual. Not mad about that.
Can you tell I like my backpacks? Having hands free is wonderful. I loved, loved wearing this outfit. It was one of those cool in the morning, hot in the afternoon days, so I used layers to my advantage. By the afternoon I was down to the linen tank and pants, and paired together they almost looked like a jumpsuit. Excited to repeat this one in the thick of summer.
It turns out, moms can wear crop tops too. The trick is wearing high-waisted pants. This combination feels fresh and fun and was perfect for the hot day.
My son had a special Mother’s Day tea at his school so I took it as a chance to dig into the dressier side of my closet. Love the way these two pieces effortlessly go together!
That time I had to get dressed in a super hurry and ended up loving my outfit. This reminds me that it pays to curate my closet. The more my closet contains items I’m lukewarm about, the harder it is to get dressed, even though there are more items. On the flip side, the more distilled my clothing collection is, the easier it is to assemble a great outfit.
Borrowed from the boys. This outfit felt like it called for a more substantial jean jacket than my cropped one so I reached across the closet to borrow this from my husband.
I love a good faux jumpsuit! Pairing these two pieces together was a great choice. I can’t wait to show you even more of this shirt. In case you missed the styling video, you can find it here. Note the borrowed jean jacket again (do you think he will miss it?).
Canadian tuxedo take 2. Yes, please. Big fan of this dark blue denim combination, one vintage and the other new. Paired with a vintage sisal tote and a few gold accessories.
Thanks so much for reading along today! Have you noticed any themes in your spring outfits? Putting words to our style can be challenging, but I’ve noticed it’s a lot easier to do for a particular season (verses your entire wardrobe). I’d love to hear yours!

You dress so much like I do, it’s funny. What size is your “Philosopher shirt, c/o Power of My People?” Their size chart indicates that I would take an XS (never in my life!).
Love it! I’m curious how you’d describe your style then? My shirt is a small :)
Possible to share size of your Paloma crop tank? Beautiful!
Of course! It is a size 40.
Thank you!! xoxoxo
Love to see how you dress for spring!
The outfit with the jumpsuit and the Clyde trench is favorite.
You are so right that it’s easier to get dressed when you only have items in your closet that you love.
Here the spring weather has not arrived yet, which makes it so difficult to get dressed.
I no longer want to wear the thick winter(-ish) layers that I wore for the past months but for the real spring layers it’s still simply too cold.
So I decided last that I needed a real cardigan to keep me warm so I ordered no16 of Babaa……..
Now I can wear my spring layers with this beautiful layer on top :-)
One question about the Clyde trench.
I’m eyeing it for some time already but the one thing I’m worried about is that I wouldn’t get much wear out of it because you can not close it (only with the belts they launched earlier).
How do you feel about that?
When do you wear it and do get much use of it or do you only wear it only when the weather is right?
Hi Martine! Yes, you are right about the Clyde Trench, it can be a bit of a fair-weather piece, especially if you size down like I did. I do know if you take your true size you can fit some pretty substantial layers underneath. Also, note: a crossbody bag helps keep it closed too.
I would love to hear more about your no16 cardigan! I was trying hard to find real life photos of that one with no luck. I’d love to see yours on you! Which color did you get? I love my Babaa cardigans so much!!
Hi Andrea!
thanks for your vision on the Clyde trench.
I will keep it in mind and think about it while saving up some money ;-).
I have decided to buy no16 because I wanted to be able to wear it easily over my linen tops with 3/4 sleeves. I love the fact that it is oversized but the weight of the coton makes it weigh down so it doesn’t look like a bag without any structure.
I’m 5’9″, a bit taller that your are I think and I’m under the impression that your have a more petite frame than I have.
I choose the Clay Pot which turns out to be a kind of summer Camel color (if you know what I mean). A light toffee, really a great color for the summer time.
The quality is so good, I have never seen something this good before.
If your want I can send you a picture of me wearing my (first) Babaa.
On Instagram I read that they have a summer sale 2 weeks in july so I want to try to get a no 18….. ;-)
Can I sent you a message through Facebook?
Yay! I’m so glad to see your Paloma Wool top in rotation – it’s such a great find.
If I could name my style lately, it would be “branching out.” I’m leaning in to silhouettes I wouldn’t have previously considered and reaching for more white and earth tones than usual.
I’ve noticed this Krystal! What do you think is behind the subtle shift?
I would described my style at the moment as relaxed smart casual. I teach at a university so I need to look put together but not over dresssed and I want to be comfortable.
Andrwa, I have quick question. What do you think of your Reformation jeans? I have been eyeing a couple pairs ( in the extended sizes). Would you recommend their jeans?
I like their jeans quite a bit! Excellent retention (they don’t stretch out too much) and good shape and construction.
So many lovely outfits. Because I an almost exclusively in jeans or chinos, the skirt and white knot top really caught my eye. Inspiring me to wear more “feminine shapes”
By the way I did end up getting the wide leg chino(sized up) & relaxed chino. Didn’t immediately take to the wide leg, but in the past two weeks I have really grown to love it & its helped expand my existing wardrobe. But the relaxed chino I think will be a real
staple. Thank you so much for your posts and advice!
Thank you for your kind words and feedback Haj, I’m honored to be able to help!! Best of luck with the chinos!
Hey!
I would love to see the result on that DIY cropped sweatshirt!
Also, I looove your faux jumpsuit outfit, smart!
Can’t seem to find the exact words to my spring style, which made me thought I need to work more on that. May be doing one of those tutorials from Style Bee.
Cheers!
Yes! I’d love to hear more about your spring style. I love a good faux jumpsuit too, it’s almost better than a real one because it’s more versatile. Will share the sweatshirt soon!
