The last few weeks of getting dressed have been pretty good for me, but I’ve definitely been overthinking it, as I shared on Instagram yesterday. One of the casualties of running a style blog is too much brain power devoted to the topic of clothes. I certainly feel that what we wear deserves a solid amount of attention, but I can tell I’ve been thinking about it a little too much. Perhaps it’s the changing of seasons, or the endless time on Instagram. Either way, it’s left me feeling a little exhausted! For the next few weeks, I’m vowing to cut out some of the influence and focus on my little Pinterest board for inspiration.
This fall, one key item is shaping up to be a closet hero: my wool Babaá cardigan. It should be, on all accounts, a frumpy piece of clothing, but it feels so good and it fits over everything. Thus I keep reaching for it again and again. It’s light (wool) but also super warm (wool), it’s almost like a sweater-jacket. I wore it in at least three outfits below, and those don’t include the times I threw it on around the house or when heading out the door, to keep warm and cozy. I am planning a post soon with more details about the sweater and how it compares to its cotton sister. Something I get questions about almost every day!
Also on serious repeat: two pairs of hoop earrings and a tiny gold padlock necklace. Keep reading for details!
Cardigan no19 (one size), Babaá Knitwear | Pima Micro Rib Scoop Neck Tee, Everlane | Sailor Pants, (8 -runs small), Jesse Kamm | Day Glove flat (10.5), c/o Everlane | Classic Shoulder Bag, Cuyana | Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
Admittedly, this cardigan/pants combination is not the most attractive, but it’s a hard one to deny. Playing around with color palettes today, but bordering near my danger-zone of ‘too complicated.’
Clyde Trench (S), Elizabeth Suzann | Shirt, M, from the men’s section (similar) | Jeans, Vintage Levi’s (501) (similar) | Classic Tote, c/o Cuyana | Large Gold Hoops, c/o Mejuri | Paloma Mule, c/o Nisolo
A classic look. It took creating a board of my favorite looks to realize how much I love wearing button up white shirts. Especially this one, which I rescued from my husband’s ‘get rid of’ pile. It’s a cotton oxford that I machine wash and dry, no ironing required. (This is why it gets more wear than the pretty white button ups on my side of the closet.) Shoes! Very excited about these ones. Full feature coming Thursday!
Linen Peasant Top, Muumuu | Cheeky Jean (27R), Everlane | Chloe Closed Toe Clog (41) in Sienna, c/o Bryr | Form Bag, c/o Everlane | Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
I would call this an ‘essentials’ outfit. It’s made up of all my closet essentials: high-quality cream top, jeans, a good clog, and a brown bag. Very happy with this one.
Air Dolman Tee (M), c/o Everlane | Cheeky Jean in washed black (27R), Everlane| Twill Linen Button Down Dress in Grey Moon (size small) – worn as a duster, Use code AndreaH to save 10% through 10/16 | Chloe Closed Toe Clog (41) in Sienna, c/o Bryr | Form Bag, c/o Everlane | Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
Playing around with this dress as a duster. It’s very soft and pretty. I like the shapes in this outfit, but think I would have liked it better with some more warm shades.
Cardigan no19 (one size), Babaá Knitwear | Pima Micro Rib Scoop Neck Tee (M), Everlane | Jeans, vintage Levi’s 505’s, Etsy | Waterproof Bootie, Aquatalia | Bag, Vintage Dooney & Bourke (similar)
Vintage bag and jeans, suede boots and a cozy wool sweater. I’m feeling romantic just thinking about it. This outfit is like comfort-care in a chic package. And I didn’t even do it on purpose. Will repeat.
Waffle Knit Sweater (M), Everlane | Crop Flood Jeans (27), Reformation | Waterproof Bootie, Aquatalia | Bag, Vintage Dooney & Bourke (similar) | Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
Another version of comfort wear. I’m probably going to have to fight myself off from wearing this sweater every day. It’s a wool-cashmere blend so it’s thick, warm and soft. It’s way too easy to wear. Add stretchy jeans and blocky heels and we have a recipe for success. Reminds me of the fall formulas I shared at the end of summer!
Cardigan no19 (one size), Babaá Knitwear | Tee (L), Paloma Wool | White Wide Leg Denim (28), c/o ABLE | Mariella Mule, c/o Nisolo | Form Bag, c/o Everlane | Padlock Pendant, c/o Aide-Mémoire | Initial Necklace, Nashelle
New shirt day! I have been looking for a graphic tee for some time and when I saw this one, I fell in love. The design is simple, unique and warm in color. It feels a little weird to buy a short sleeved top this late in the season but when you know, you know. Side note: next time I’ll try this outfit with slim white pants and boots.
Cardigan no18 (one size), Babaá Knitwear | Lazlo Jumpsuit (M), c/o REIFhaus Use code LAZLO15 to save 15% off Lazlo Jumpsuit styles by REIFhaus | Mariella Mule, c/o Nisolo | Form Bag, c/o Everlane | Large Gold Hoops, c/o Mejuri
Stepping out in this fun, long-sleeve jumpsuit again. It’s truly unlike anything I own. I am trying to figure out how to make it look a little more casual. If I had white, hightop sneakers, that would be the perfect shoe to pair it with.
Shirt, c/o Power of My People Use code S&S20 to get 20% off your order through 10/26. | Crop Flood Jeans (27), Reformation | Waterproof Bootie, Aquatalia | Padlock Pendant, c/o Aide-Mémoire | Large Gold Hoops, c/o Mejuri
Notice the ‘comfort’ jeans are back? These have been some of my favorite lately. Pair them with this soft, cozy brushed cotton shirt and we have a winning combination.

Loving your Everlane and Babaa’ sweaters. We actually had a few cooler days where I could pull out a cardigan and not roast. I still would love to buy some chunky sweaters, but they would just sit in my closet 10 months out of the year…..plus my body shape doesn’t lend itself to chunky stuff on the top….. I will just enjoy yours! Your plants are looking great in your pictures, too!
That’s a good perspective to have, admire and release! Thank you!! I sure love my plant babies! I will try to bring more of them into the photos this week. :)
That cardigan is everything, I have it in a lighter color and really, really love it, although it has this weird bulky shape.
And OMG Andrea, I almost bought this tee last week! The @shopstressed gal wears it all the time and it inspired me. But for now I’ve decided not to add another graphic tee to my wardrobe. But it’s so elegant, and looks really great on you (that white pants combo is on point)!
If you ever want to part with your Twill Linen Button Down Dress, put me on the waitlist! It is so perfect!
I thought I spied it on you in a photo! It’s such a great cardigan! I wear it so much. I think the curved shape is what I love so much about it.
Too funny about the tee! That’s such a compliment. I always love your style friend! And I will keep that in mind about the twill linen button down dress! <3
Such great outfits!
Overthinking what you are wearing is something I used to do A LOT! I still struggle with it sometimes, but when I really start to notice it I sign offline more often, and stopped following a bunch of people who post new clothes all the time or their whole feed is about buying and shopping, even if it’s “ethical”.
also bought that waffle sweater and it is the BEST sweater I own!
Have a great week! Xo!
Yes, wise words Jodie. Going offline is always good, I think I’m due for some time off soon. I also like to go through and unsubscribe from retail emails, and I will even mute accounts on IG if I need some breathing room. :)
Going to echo all the love for sweater weather :) I particularly love the outfits adorned by your wool Babaa. Would you say you reach for this one more than the L’Envers Claude? I’m sort of torn between the two, and they seem functionally similar. I have the cotton Babaa and find it makes the MOST fun (and interesting) layering piece, but I would love to hear if you find it as versatile in the cooler months. Cheers!
Hi Lenna! I love my cotton Babaa, but when it gets colder I probably wont wear it as much because of the shorter sleeves, we will see. The wool Babaa I tend to reach for more than my L’Envers Claude, but I think that might be because it’s new. Main differences between the two: the Claude cuts straighter lines, so it has a more classic look, and it fits under coats a little better. The wool Babaa I can squeeze under a rain jacket, but it’s hard. I really like the rounded shape! I guess it depends on whether you are going for classic or more unique.
First time commenter! Might I say that as of late your outfits have been crushing the game? I’m pinning every single one! I mean, I’ve always like your style- but I’ve noticed this shift in your wardobe and it’s an absolute burst of fresh air! LOVE!
Wow, thank YOU! That is such a nice, thing to say! I think it probably helps that I’m doing more of a ‘highlight reel’ format. ;)
Love these outfits! Do you find that Everlane wool/cashmere blend sweater at all itchy? I have pretty sensitive skin especially around my neck so I am wary of anything wool but I love the look of that one and have been considering it for a while and as it’s on a discount right now might have to try it.
Hi Annette, I do not find it itchy one bit. But I am not particularly sensitive to that sort of thing. Everlane has a pretty good return policy, even on sale items I believe. Best of luck!
I love simple looks with big comfy sweaters – but I hear you that it’s so easy to overthink fall fashion. Between the changing weather and wanting to try out new looks, I’ve been doing some of that too.
I think you touched on a good point, trying new looks does take extra brain power, that totally makes sense. Hopefully we can fall into a nice groove soon. I am going to join in to the 10×10 which starts next week, that should help!
I love the waffle knit sweater with the flared jeans! So pretty! I also love the up close shot of you at the bottom — it’s a beautiful portrait.
Thank you Lexie, that’s such a nice thing to say! I feel a little self-conscious sharing up close shots, so I really appreciate it! That was one of my favorite outfits too. :)
I”m excited you are doing a post about the two babaa cardigans! I have been debating buying one for a few months now. I”m a knitter so it feels werid to buy something chunky that looks handknit, but the shape is great and it would cost the same if not more to knit something similar. I”m leaning towards the cotton because wool can be itchy to me unless it’s super wash pure merino. Also, your hair looks so nice pulled back!
Yay, I am excited to put the post together! And great point about the materials, good yard is spendy!!! My wool Babaa was pretty itchy at first, but it’s oddly ‘broken in.’ I didn’t know that was a thing with wool!
I am loving that cardigan in the oatmeal colour. Have you tried wearing it buttoned up like a jumper? I’d love to know how that looks tucked into high-waisted/mid rise jeans. I’ve been looking for something in that kinda style, just haven’t been able to find the right one yet, and this looks like a pretty good match!
I haven’t, but I totally should! Great idea!! Hope you find a good cardi soon.
