the Weekly Rundown: the Local Thirty Challenge + the Newest Trendy Plant

Seasons and salt blog

SUSTAINABILITY:

Could you live off of local food only for 30 days? The Local Thirty kicks off September first. Do you know where your food comes from?

Recycling in America is currently in crisis – maybe due in part to a financial conflict of interest – perhaps the solution lies in a standardized approach.

LIFE:

Mr. Seasons and I just finished watching The Looming Tower on Hulu, a miniseries based on true events between the FBI and CIA in the months that preceded 9/11. Very eye-opening.

15 Smart and Funny Tips for Life – so many nuggets here, my favorites are 4, 8 and 12.

I just got a Pilea plant on Friday. I kept seeing them all over Instagram, and then bam, there they were at Trader Joe’s. Now to learn how to care for it.

STYLE:

Proof that sneakers and dresses are an excellent choice.

Gorgeous, tonal fall layers.

Loving this week of outfits video.

ON S+S:

One year ago I published my Everlane Denim Review. Very excited to be publishing an update in the near future.

Happy Labor Day!

  1. On Thursday I walked into my local flower shop and fell in love with a little pilea plant. OF COURSE you had a link to caring for them! I’m recently new to your blog and delightfully surprised by how your stars align with mine these days. Thank you for being you.

  2. I cannot believe these are at Trader Joe’s now. Remember – lots of light! They’ll talk to you when they’re too dry (it looks sad and droopy) and they don’t like being too wet either.
