Summer is officially here! (Mostly.) It’s still semi-cool in Portland, but this week I embraced my best summertime mentality and the relaxed style that comes with it. I wore the same dress twice, I donned a baseball cap and gasp! I wore fleece. Welcome to a very PNW week! Sprinkled in with some Andrea-style of course!
MONDAY:
Model No.17 Dress, c/o Pyne & Smith | Sandals, c/o Adelante Shoe Co., made to order in Guatemala | Canvas Tote, old (similar)
It’s Monday, and you don’t want to think. Grab the easiest thing: a dress that’s an all-in-one outfit. I’m a big fan of simple dressing in the summer. It’s truly a vacation from all the layers and styling of the cooler seasons. Today’s outfit is a great example.
Style Notes: This dress is navy gingham, and my instinct is to avoid pairing brown with it, favoring blacks and tans instead.
Style Score: 9
TUESDAY:
Basic Shift Dress (M), Hackwith Design House | Pons, by Avarcas | Vintage Sisal Bag, Etsy | Initial Cuff, Able
We had exactly two hot days this week, and this was one of them. My preferred method for keeping cool usually involves a lightweight dress vs. shorts.
Style Notes: This outfit is ultra practical for the reason stated above. I love how functional it is without sacrificing style. The black is chic, and the casual sandals and bag soften it and tone it down a bit.
Style Score: 10
WEDNESDAY:
Baseball Cap, Everlane | Pima Micro Rib Scoop Neck Tee (M), Everlane | Linen Jumpsuit (M), REIFhaus (same in organic triple gauze cotton) | Birkenstocks | Vintage Sisal Bag, Etsy
In case you’re counting, yes, I do have this shirt in three colors. I wear my white and black versions so much, I decided to add a third in gray, which layers nicely under a handful of my dresses and jumpsuits. I have really been into fitted tops lately. They seem to pair so well with all my statement bottoms (think: wide leg pants and looser-fit vintage denim).
Style Notes: This outfit is so far outside my norm! Usually, if I’m wearing baseball caps, it’s because I’m exercising, or desperately attempting to hide my un-showered self. This is the first time I’ve actually built a baseball cap into an outfit, and I like it! The blue is a nice pop of color, for all my singular, black summer pieces.
Fit Notes: I really like how this hat fits, it’s a bit different than other ballcaps I’ve worn. It’s slightly oversized, which is nice because you can keep your hair down instead of having to tuck it behind your ears. The effect makes the hat look a little more chic.

THURSDAY:
Denim Jacket, Levi’s (similar) | Model No.17 Dress, c/o Pyne & Smith | Sneakers (41) | Vintage Sisal Bag, Etsy
Twice in one week with the gingham dress! In summer, easy is king.
Style Notes: The sneakers and jean jacket are a sporty take on this demure-ish dress. If I were to repeat this, I’d probably add a black leather bag to toughen it up a bit. But often I’m lazy, and don’t feel like switching up my bags. Are you a bag switcher?

FRIDAY:
OUTFIT 1: Jacket, Patagonia | U-Neck Tee (M), Everlane | Jeans, Vintage Levi’s (501) (similar option on sale!) | Birkenstocks
OUTFIT 2: Cardigan no18 (one size), Babaá Knitwear | U-Neck Tee (M), Everlane | Jeans, Vintage Levi’s (501) (similar option on sale!) | Clogs, No.6 (similar)
It’s a tale of two looks on one day! The first outfit I wore for a chilly morning park date with some of my favorite mamas. As usual, I was rushing out the door, and decided to go straight for practicality over style (rare for me). But it turns out, I didn’t mind the way it looked either.
Later in the day, the kids and I were headed to a local museum to meet up with their cousins, and I ditched my sporty look by swapping in a sweater for the fleece, and clogs for the Birkenstocks. Definitely more in my comfort zone.

SATURDAY:
Luzon Tie Top, c/o Only Child | Jeans, vintage Levi’s 505’s, Etsy | Huaraches (9.5), Nisolo | Backpack, c/o Everlane (sold out, similar) | Sunglasses, Ray-Ban | Necklace, c/o Rebecca Mir Grady | Diamond Hoops, c/o Grayling Use code ‘SALT20’ for 20% off
On Saturday we headed to the open skate at our local roller rink, because my oldest loves it. (I do too.) My other two are working on their skills and my husband did great too. Nothing like an all-family endorphin rush on a Saturday afternoon!
Style Notes: Going for a slight vintage vibe here, with the denim style, tie top and huarache sandals. The little black backpack keeps it from being too costume-y. A note on the shoes: this is my 3rd pair of huaraches, (over 3 years) and hopefully it’s the charm. The first pair was a size too big, the second pair stretched out, and this year I took a chance and got another pair because Nisolo says they’ve changed the fit to be more true to size. So far, so good! They have stretched a little in width to accommodate my foot (good), but not in length (very good).
Style Score: 9.5
SUNDAY:
Clyde Trench (S), Elizabeth Suzann | Dress, Everlane, a few years old (similar + reversible) | Wedge Clogs (41), No.6 | Eloria Necklace, c/o Loop Jewelry, (use code Seasons10 to save 10%) | Classic Tote, c/o Cuyana
Style Notes: This jacket has been so fun to wear! It’s such a cool garment, the photos don’t even do it justice. The fabric is sturdy, yet soft. It has a noticeable weave, and tiny flecks in the coloring. It kind of feels like a magic cape! Today was our other hot day, but in the morning when we went to church, it was still nice and cool so, of course, I grabbed the jacket!

FAVORITES: Tuesday/Friday/Sunday
KEY LESSONS: Roll with the summer vibes and don’t be afraid to go for casual or sporty.
I am not a baseball hat person, but I ordered the everlane hat in black to bring camping. I feel like I have a normal to small sized head and the hat was too puffy
I thought at first I just wasn’t used to seeing my head in a hat, but my husband confirmed that it was too voluminous. I didn’t realize that might accommodate having the hair untucked! Oh well, that wouldn’t really fit my camping my needs anyways. Looks really cute on you!
Thank you Kerry! Your description makes me want to chuckle. It IS a bit voluminous. At first I tired wearing it with my hair back, and and it was definitely too big for my head! Good luck finding a hat that fits your camping needs!
Good to know about the updated fit of the Nisolo sandals! Nisolo’s old fit guide said to size down, unless you were a size 6 – then order true to size. I never could justify ordering a 6 when the guide said it was also the proper fit for size 7. Reminds me of when Target used to sell 5/6 as a single size… Please keep us posted if they begin to stretch out, length-wise!
I will do!!
You are just a darling human! I’m really enjoying your blog and your style reviews on Instagram. Love seeing that P&S gingham get some love! Happy to have found your site through the magic of the inter webs. Also, so envious of cool summer mornings! In Texas, you wake up and it’s in the 90’s…
Oh my! That is toasty!! It will pick up here, but not usually till next month. But 90 in morning, yikes!! And thank you for the sweet words – glad to have you!!
I love this black Hackwith dress on you! The shape is so clean and flattering. I have the similar looking Vetta reversible jumper dress, which I had hoped would be more versatile (two dresses in one, what?!), but I find myself not reaching for it. The construction of the buttons at the shoulders just makes it less streamlined, and it pills. :/ Yet another one of those cases where I should have waited for something (mostly) perfect instead of jumping the gun on something that sort of seemed to fit the bill. Do you mind sharing if you got the black cotton or tencel in your dress? Thanks so much!
Oh no!! That is hard when a product doesn’t live up to your expectations! As for the dress, I have the tencel! But when I got it the cotton wasn’t available yet, and I might opt for that instead! I love cotton! Also… just a heads up, I’ll be sharing a Hackwith discount code in mid July!
Can I ask how the fit of the Basic Shift Dress is? What made you go with the medium?
I don’t remember why I got the medium, perhaps I was concerned about the length? I bought it quite awhile ago. The fit is loose on me, but the overall dress shape has a bit of an a-line that makes it very flattering.
Oooo…I didn’t even consider length, good thing I asked! I’ve been eyeing up the Basic Shift dress for a while since it is so similar to the shape of the now discontinued shorter Marlena dress from Elizabeth Suzann. Thanks!
Omg I couldn’t agree more about that magical cotton canvas! It’s sooooo gooooood. I got the Harper jacket in the same color as your trench, and yes yes yes to everything you say about it, right down to the flecked color. And it’s so resilient – I’ve already gotten plenty of coffee and dirt on it, and I literally just take a scrub brush and detergent to the dirty spots with no damage!
A miraculous fabric!
Yes!!! To all of this!! I love hearing that it’s the same for you!! I would love to see your harper jacket on you, I bet it’s super cute!
Hi! Would you share what color Pons you’re wearing on Tuesday? Having trouble deciding on a color.
Hi Annie! These are the ‘tan’ color.
How are you liking those no 6 sandals? I’ve been eyeing them….
I like them quite a bit! I will warn you they stretch out a bit because of the soft leather. I have my clogs in a 42, but ended up in a 41 with the sandals.
