Summer Style with Tradlands

This post is in partnership with Tradlands, the creator of menswear inspired women’s staples, guaranteed to last and meant to be lived in.

In April I had the chance to formally introduce you to the wonderful, American-made brand, Tradlands. They are a company who puts their money where their mouth is, creating timeless, quality designs with a modern spin. They don’t compromise ethics for style, nor do they compromise style for ethics. Hands down, it’s one of the best places to find a well-fitting, well-made shirt.

This summer, the team at Tradlands is at it again, creating lust-worthy shirts that are destined to be staples in your closet and my closet. They recently launched a new warm weather collection – including some new designs (hello stripes!), linen tunics and minimalist prints.

The Ess

The Ess caught my eye because I love, love the understated figure eight print. It’s almost a throwback to something my dad might have worn when I was a kid. It’s super clean looking and super minimal. A subtle spin on a white shirt.

Notes on Fit:
I found this top to fit me slightly smaller than my striped Tradlands shirt, and upon comparing this shirt with others, I think I’m squarely between a Small and Medium in this style of fitted button up. I am wearing a Small here and ended up swapping it for a Medium.

Notes on Styling:
I styled it here with my mainstay shorts, these DIY vintage Levi’s (cut from an old pair of relaxed-fit jeans) and my thrifted, white Cons. It’s kind of a sporty look for me, but I like it. I look forward to styling the Ess knotted at the waist with my favorite Lauren Winter Wide Pants (which I almost wore for this shoot) and of course my Kamm Pants. I’m hoping this top can pull winter duty as well, under some of my favorite sweaters.

The Martha Pebble

The Martha Pebble is a long, breezy linen tunic. I think it will work well as a top layer to shade from the sun on hot days, or worn as a beach cover up. And here, it doubles as a great shirt to wear knotted at the waist thanks to the long length. The texture in this top is fantastic, and the linen drapes beautifully.

Notes on Fit
The Martha Pebble is cut in a relaxed, almost slouchy style. I am wearing a size Small, and it is quite comfortable. Untied, the top falls almost to my fingertips and is slightly longer in the back. (You can see how I wore it unknotted here.) The shoulders are relaxed, the arm width is relaxed and the sleeves are nice and long. It’s the kind of shirt you can wear all day, and have plenty of room to move around in, sort of like a button up shirt masquerading in the comfort of a t-shirt.

Notes on Styling
I like this shirt knotted, obviously, but I look forward to donning it as a simple third layer too – thrown on over shorts and a white tank, or atop my black tank dress. The texture from the linen weave is an excellent way to add visual interest to a look.

The Alamere

My husband was the one who suggested I try this shirt, and I’m so glad he did. Online it looked nice, but when I got a chance to try it on, I loved it. The fabric is a super soft cotton, which works so well tucked in. One of my favorite parts is the contrasting pocket, a detail that elevates the design of this pullover.

Notes on Fit
Just like the BCN, I am wearing the Alamere in a small, and it fits just right. It sits away from my body without being too wide or loose. It’s a very lightweight fabric, and is soft right off the rack.

Notes on Styling
I tried this top on with a few combos before I settled on styling it with these black, wide leg pants and warm-tone clogs. I love a good tuck and wide leg line, but I also think this shirt will look great worn loose over slim-fitting jeans. Next up I plan to wear it tucked into my black linen skirt, and in the winter I’ll try it under my charcoal cardigan with jeans and cognac boots.

  1. That last shirt is my favorite, for sure! Also, I just ordered those pants when they restocked. Can’t wait to get them.

  2. I love love seeing these Tradlands pieces styled on you!! You did it so well. I honestly can’t pick a favorite…maybe the white shorts + tied button up (biggg heart eyes). Thank you so much for the discount code as well, I can truly see the potential of wearing the clothing that Tradlands makes through every season. This has been my ah-ha moment with ethical shopping since I’m on a budget. I feel much better spending money on well-made, ethical items that I can wear year round.

    1. Thank you Rachel! I agree, it’s really hard for me to want to drop a chunk of change on something I will only wear for one season. When I find pieces that can be worn through 3+ seasons, I get pretty stoked!

  3. Wow these 3 tops are stunning and some of my favorite looks of yours this summer!
LOVE the print on the white button up!
Someday I will be able to buy something from them. Awesome brand!
    Have a great weekend :)

    1. Thanks Jodie! I could totally see how some of their tops would work for your style! Do you plan to nurse after you the baby? If so, have you thought about how that might play into your wardrobe considerations?

  4. Wow – I really like the Alamere! I would have been in the same boat as you – I likely wouldn’t have picked it, but it looks great on!

  5. I love these looks! I’ve been thinking about getting a Tradlands shirt for awhile and I just might have to do it now. I think any of the pieces you’ve shown here would be really versatile. Thanks for the detailed sizing info too!

    1. Thanks Jenine! I’d love to hear which style you get! I still really love the first striped shirt I got from them, maybe they’ll restock it some day!

  6. Love all three of these looks! Still haven’t bought anything from Tradlands, but I seriously love their aesthetic. I could not be a bigger fan of blending masculine/feminine into one piece. You look great lady!!

    1. I agree, I love pieces that seem to fall right in between that space of masculine/feminine, they feel so strong. I hope you get a shirt one of these days! Thanks for the kind words! :) xx

  7. I love the way you styled all of the shirts! Hoping to buy something from Tradlands in the future. I was wondering where your white shorts are from in your second outfit.

    1. Hi Emily! They are thrifted, old-school shorts! They say ‘Picone Sport’ on the tag, I think they are from the 90’s. :)

    1. Wow, thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot! Keep on persevering! It’s amazing what we can learn when we put in a little time and hard work.
