‘Tis the season for looking back on the year, and reflecting on how far you’ve come with your goals. A Modest Home’s year in review has me longing to simplify even more. When it’s all said and done, there should be more time for living, loving and having fun, and less time spent on organizing and chores. That’s winning in my book.
Some killer inspiration for simplifying. I think I’ll be re-reading this one a few times.
When decorating your home are you in “camp color” or “team neutrals?” I think the most impressive designers and curators can marry both. In this Paris apartment tour I love how design follows function and the home is minimal, but still lived-in.
Do you still have a holiday party on the horizon? If a gorgeous velvet pantsuit is not in the budget, try putting a bow on it. I promise it isn’t as cheesy it sounds. In fact these quick DIYs are simple and surprisingly chic. I’m considering something similar to #1 for New Year’s Eve.
I would wear a sheep around if it meant I stayed warm and looked this cool.
Portland friends, if you’re looking for a few last-minute gift ideas to shop in person, look no further. This gift guide for Portlanders features some of my favorite shops and is a great way to ‘shop small’ this season. (Hint: some of them are available online too!)
Happy last week before Christmas!
Cheers,
Andrea
Great links on simplifying! My simplifying goals have been seriously hijacked this year, but I am hoping the new year will bring a renewal in pairing down, buying less, making healthy choices, and dealing better with the stress that causes shopping and eating. :-)
I like your mindset Rebecca! I hear you, especially on the pairing down and buying less part! It’s really interesting to see what stress triggers, I deal with the same things! I never used to feel like i wanted to eat when I was stressed, but more so lately, in dealing with parenting.
