You know the emoji with the monkey covering his eyes? I kind of feel like that right now!!
After all of our clog talk last week, and then texting with my friend Paige (Style This Life) about our old Danskos I decided to pull mine out for a little styling. The result? These photos leave me feeling like the emoji monkey who is covering his mouth, ears and eyes.
I don’t love how it turned out. Well mostly, I think I don’t love the way my Danskos look on me. I think this particular style is too bulky in the toe box. Add that to a girl with generous-sized feet, and it just doesn’t look so good. Perhaps a different style of Dansko would look better. Or I could engage in some sort of old world foot binding practice. Or – I can just day dream about wood clogs like these and these.
Something I do love – this boxy striped tee by Everlane. It’s one of the carefully-selected items I added to my closet this winter. I love how wide and generous the cut of this top is. It adds unexpected volume to an outfit and the side vent detailing adds just the right amount of vertical lines. I am not sure if I’ll ever be brave enough to wear it without an undershirt though. Jeans are by Paige, and my beanie is from Animal Traffic in Portland.
Here’s to a great week!

I love that you shared photos of your experiment – even if you weren’t sure about how it turned out! Question about the Everlane tee – is it thicker/not see-through? And did you find the sizing to be true?
Hey Stacy! I almost didn’t share them, but I really want to be transparent, and it’s kind of fun to learn with my readers instead of pretend I have it all figured out, you know?
As for the tee, yes, this is a thicker, heavy-weight material (almost like a sweatshirt), it’s really nice! I wear a Medium in almost all things Everlane, I prefer a looser fit on top. This shirt is no exception. I think if I had gotten a small it would have been too short on me. But I think the other striped top (the non boxy one) has a totally different fit. Hope that helps!
Yes, very helpful! Thanks :)
Sorry–I am just not a clog fan. You’re right, these are not very flattering on you–but if it keeps raining, maybe you could use them as you slog to the bus stop?!
HAHAHA! Yes! You crack me up. And thank you for your honesty!
First, I love this top. It’s a great updated take on a classic striped tee. And these jeans look amazing on you! I do agree that the Danskos aren’t working with this outfit, but I wonder if it’s because of the skinny jeans? I think maybe a wider leg, boyfriend style jean maybe rolled up a bit would balance the clunkiness of the clogs. And yay for wardrobe experiments and sharing them with us!

Those are great ideas! Thanks girl!
I actually LIKE the shape of your clogs, though I do tend to favor a more natural-looking material.
I have clog fever as well, and (finally) recently ordered a pair from lotta from stockholm. They are very reasonably priced and are handmade in Sweden. They have not arrived yet, however, so I can’t speak to the quality.

Ooooo! I have been so curious about Lotta from Stockholm! I didn’t realize they were made in Sweden! That’s awesome. Please, please, please keep me updated!
Yeah, I don’t love the patent on these clogs either. I bought them to photograph weddings in (it’s a long day on my feet) and they work well for that, but that’s about it, in my opinion!
I honestly love the clogs! They’re funky in a good way. And the stripes! You can never go wrong with a striped tee.
I love to see the differing opinions! Thanks for weighing in Cassandra. And yes, stripes are wonderful!
Girl all you need is a solid pair of high-waisted jeans and you’ll be set with that tee! With a tucked in undershirt you’ll be comfy and covered, plus high-waisted jeans are the best and I don’t know why we ever got rid of them! I need to give this Everlane tee a try, everyone seems to love it!

I actually have exactly that! Great idea! I’ll try that combo soon. ?
I guess I’m in the “like the clogs” camp as well! When I read the title I was picturing a different Danskco clogs and I was like “yeah, danskos are weird like that” and I ended up actually gasping because these are SO CUTE. I love the mary jane style and the color (burgundy clogs?!!!) and I really like the profile of these from all sides – they are just super cute! I don’t know what size your feet are but they look rather normal sized to me. (ha, I am 5’2 and my feet are size 9 which is large for my height and I never think they look huge, I just bemoan the fact that all of the cute shoes at the thrift store are 7s.). I think these are adoreable and are really cute with the skinny jeans. I know I use to only wear my dankos with flares and when I finally wore them with skinny jeans it took me awhile to get use to them, they just have a different line on the leg with skinnies.
THANK YOU for saying my feet look normal sized, ha! I usually wear a 9.5 or 10, 41 Euro. Some shoes just don’t look good in my size, but I try hard not to dwell on it too much. Thank you for your thoughts on the clogs, I’ll definitely take them into consideration! You make a good point about the leg line.
I actually love the danskos on you, especially with this outfit!
Ha! Thanks, I love all the feedback. My husband doesn’t care for them, so we’ll have to see what happens! ;)
I love that tee! And Danskos are such a thing around these parts that they don’t even phase me anymore – I think they look great on you.
Thanks Leah! They are so comfortable it’s almost wrong!
