Seasons and salt blog

Here’s an enviable winter look. I am certainly crushing on the ‘coatigans’ I have been seeing around on the internet. If it wasn’t so darn rainy here, I’d be buying one and wearing it all the time. Another thought on this look: do you wear distressed denim in the winter? And do your knees get cold? I just stowed away all my ripped jeans for the winter because I can’t handle the breeze in my pants!

Staying dry and warm is about as ‘fashionable’ as I get lately (it’s been dumping here for weeks now), and I am daydreaming about a jacket upgrade. It’s really hard to find one that checks all the boxes of: keeps me dry (must have hood), keeps me warm (must have insulation), doesn’t make me feel like a marshmallow or a ski bunny. I think this one might come close.

I loooved this house tour on Cup of Jo. It’s a good reminder that you don’t have to be a homeowner to make your place truly feel like home – something I am currently struggling with since finding myself a renter again in the last year.

Are you making any special foods for Christmas this week? We are making some of our holiday favorites including this breakfast casserole we always eat for Christmas Eve brunch. I am also trying out this new recipe from Pioneer Woman; it features brussel sprouts and butternut squash – two of my favorite winter foods.

And lastly… let’s talk about holiday outfits. I am not one for dressing up these days (I feel like tights just complicate things, you know what I mean?). But hopefully that won’t be the case on Christmas Eve, when I will probably wear this dress. What about you? Do you dress up for the holidays?

Cheers to a wonderful Christmas/Chanukah/Holiday Season!
