Do you ever have those days where every time you glance at your to-do list you feel your stress level rise? That’s me today.
I am looking at this list as long as my arm and it’s threatening to swallow me whole.
But today I am saying, No. I will not be overwhelmed. I am refusing it.
I saw this post on Instagram the other day and it keeps flashing back into my mind:
We need to talk back to our stress. Our overwhelm. Our fear. Our anxiety. We need to talk back with the gospel.

Like many, I look at the beginning of December as a time to focus on the season of Advent and to prepare my heart and the hearts of my children for Christmas. As as I dig into a seasonal devotional, I am gently reminded that Jesus restores. He is coming to restore. (Isa 11:1-10)
I don’t have to stay trapped in my overwhelm. I can talk back to it with the gospel and let Jesus do his restorative work.
Wishing you a fruitful advent season!

I needed this today. Thank you!
Thanks for letting me know I’m not alone Nicolle. I am literally giving myself the pep talk I put in quotes. Hope your day has been better!
This is so good and so timely and I can (unfortunately) completely relate. I needed to hear this today. Thanks for sharing!
Dara, thank you for letting me know I’m not alone! I hope the rest of your day has been better!
My priest gave a really good sermon about the intentional juxtaposition of apocalypse verses in the church calendar with Advent. You may enjoy it – http://stpaulsmemorialchurch.org/sermons-list-content-section-adminpages-188/120-the-rev-elaine-ellis-thomas/2590-first-sunday-of-advent.html
Thanks Leah!
