Happy Thanksgiving Week!
Hopefully your work/school week is short, and your Thursday and Friday will be filled with food, family and fun. I am so excited for cooking, baking, visiting with relatives and of course eating!! We are grateful to have both sets of our parents in Oregon, making it semi-easy to see everyone over the long weekend.
My in-laws always get a free-range turkey from one of the local farms, and they usually brine it in juniper berries – talk about amazing! My mother-in-law likes to experiment with cranberry sauces, including her favorite curry-cranberry recipe. My husband is all about the mashed potatoes, and I am a stuffing girl. I love buttery, crunchy stuffing, it’s even better if it has fruit/veggies/sausage in it. This year I’ll be making Heidi Swanson’s Wild Rice Casserole and my husband is going to try his hand at vanilla bourbon pumpkin pie.
What is your favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving? Do you like to experiment or stick with the classics?
I love dressing up (just a bit) for the holidays, and my cozy flannel shirt and tights (similar) make it a little more comfortable! The shirt is older UO, find a USA made option here. Skirt is thrifted BDG, and I had no idea how much mileage I’d get out of it when I bought it. I’ve worn it countless times since the summer (see USA made option here and here -or- this super gorgeous asymmetrical one.). Vest is old from a place I no longer shop (AE), but if you’re looking for an ethical alternative, it might be fun to thrift a small denim jacket and cut off the sleeves! My Dooney & Bourke bag is thrifted via ebay and my shoes are Frye.
Cheers to a great week!
