Welcome to the weekend my friends! I hope the dog days of summer are treating you well. Here’s my week in links…
1) You’ve Never Been Camping Like This Before. I pretty much have camping on the brain because we are taking our family on our first-ever camping trip this weekend (sans the one year old). My husband likens it to “glamping” and I contend that’s pretty much your only choice with kids. But if I really wanted to glamp, this is where I’d go!
2) Ten Portland Bars with Outdoor Games. Speaking of the outdoors, pardon me here while I get really local for a second. Beer and cornhole? Yes, please! Mini golf and Salt & Straw ice cream? I’d hit that. If you live in a mid to big-sized city, I am willing to bet there is something fun in your area too. If not, maybe it’s time to hit Home Depot and create your own cornhole set.
3) Tomato and Fried Provolone Sandwich. Do you guys read Smitten Kitchen? It’s one of my all-time favorite food blogs. She has great kid-cake recipes, including the spiced apple cake one I’ve used in the fall for my younger daughter, and the monkey cake that I made for both of my younger kids’ first birthdays. Today I am linking you to this drool- worthy tomato sandwich because I love tomatoes and I miss my garden. First time in 6 years that I am not growing tomatoes. :(
4) Tassel Necklace DIY. On a happier note, who’s feeling crafty? After putting my designs (figuratively) on a tassel necklace, I think I am going to try my hand at this DIY one. Super cute! As is pretty much everything Lee styles. ;)
5) Inside Out. We took our oldest two to the theater last weekend to see Inside Out. It was my eldest’s second time at the theater and the very first time for my younger daughter. Though some of it was over their heads, I think they really enjoyed being there. This movie runs the gamut. It’s hilarious and it left me reaching for my tissues. And I don’t even like kid movies!
