Well the temps are sizzling in Portland right now, and I really don’t mind. Gotta enjoy the heat while it’s here. Now I wouldn’t recommend wearing this particular outfit in the heat, but I still wanted to share it with you guys because it falls under the category of: easy mom style. Something we can all use more of in our lives.
This top is great for mommin’ because it’s almost as nice and versatile as a white button up, but it’s a little more kid-proof. It’s dark enough not to show most dirt/food and the cotton weave of it = no stretching out. (Toting around a toddler on your hip is notorious at stretching out shirts.)
Black jeans are probably every mom’s best friend. They are highly functional because they don’t show any dirt or mess, except snot. If that happens find the baby wipes. Black jeans are also great to wear when you’re tired of blue jeans. Bonus points for holes in the knees because they will leave you feeling a little bit less momish.
Flat shoes are a must in mom-mode. It’s imperative that you be able to run at the drop of a hat. Pointy tips double as cattle prods when trying to herd your little crew along.
[shirt, J.Crew / jeans, thrifted + DIY holes, (similar + USA Made!) / bag, thrifted via e-bay / shoes (similar, super cool + Made in Brazil) / bracelets: craft fair, Madewell]
Happy Friday friends!

Man I’m not even a mom and this is absolutely a go-to look. Weekends you will find me scouring the dollar spot at Target, or holed up in Panera eating scones and studying, or meandering thrift shops in this outfit. This is just such a winner because not only is it super comfy and function- its essentially seasonless. I really like the rips, but I don’t think I can commit to ripped jeans, especially with a capsule wardrobe because it means I can’t wear them to work. Its like a short skirt or dress- it is designated weekend.

I totally get that! It’s nice to have items that pull double duty for sure!
