Hi friends! I didn’t post the Weekly Rundown last weekend because it was a holiday, and I was hoping everyone was out celebrating instead of reading the internet. But I am back! :)
1) A Simple Question That Keeps My Technology Use in Check. Checking my email over breakfast? Yep. Instagraming instead of talking to my kids, mmhmm. Texting photos during the moment instead of enjoying the moment? Yeah, that’s me too. As noted in this article, our culture’s obsession with technology is throwing our lives off balance. You might be shocked how many times a day we American’s check our phones. Or you might not. Great perspective on what I think is my generation’s biggest (first world) struggle.
2) How To Pack: The 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Guide. This post is a bit on the sponsor-y side, but it offers a great guide for how to travel light. I have TOTALLY been the girl with the giant, over-stuffed rolling suitcase. If I learn to pack like this, I could travel with only a carry on. Love it. Now I just need the 10-day tropical vacation to practice packing for! ;)
3) How to Shop More Ethically. Clearly, this is a topic that is on my mind. But how on earth do I balance it while blogging about clothes and getting income from it. This blogger works in and around the clothing industry and tackles the topic from that perspective. A great read if you want to make change in the fast-fashion industry, but aren’t sure where to start.
4) Curried Chicken Salad by the Barefoot Contessa. Well it’s been hot as blazes in Portland. I think we had a week straight of 90 degree and above weather. For the first time in my life I didn’t actually mind it. It probably helps that we live in a subterranean apartment that stays relatively cool. In Oregon we spend so much of the year being cold and wet that I am trying to enjoy these hot months while they’re here. Even if that means sticky skin and not turning on the oven (much). Which brings me to this recipe — a clutch summer meal that’s nice and cool and packed with flavor and texture. A win in this house, even with the baby! Start ’em young, folks. Curry for life.
5) A Million Little Ways: Uncover the Art You Were Meant to Live. Full confession here: I am a life-long reader and while I can devour a novel, when it comes to non-fiction, I am slow. I started reading this book a few weeks ago when we were on our coast trip and it has been a surprising page-turner for me! I still haven’t finished it yet, but it’s made me think differently about the everyday and it’s made me ponder how God may want to use the gifts he’s created me with differently than I might expect. Go check it out.
oooo I love this weekly rundown! The timing is perfect for so many things…from the article on technology use to the book you mentioned at the end. Can’t wait to pick that one up for my travels coming up! Thank you for sharing!
I hope you love the book Mary! :)
