Well guys, I did it. I took my scissors to these jeans, and now I am crushing on them hard. Somebody hide the rest of my pants! I love the casual feel that holey jeans lend to an outfit. It makes me feel a little less ‘mom’ and a little more chill. Distressing also lends a nice level of visual interest through texture and of course the pop of skin doesn’t hurt either.
In the matter of all honesty though, I wasn’t quite ready to cut up my nice Paige jeans, so I pulled my older black jeans out of storage (kept aside for my photography work) and experimented on those using some of the tips I linked to here. Upon deciding I loved them, I swapped them into my capsule, and swapped the nicer, Paige ones out of my capsule. After shooting these photos I also chopped the ends off, as these pants were about 1.5 inches longer than I wanted. I could have pretended like I was going to hem them, but ahem, we all know how that goes.
It’s been pretty much pants weather here in the lovely PNW, but hopefully soon I will have some warmer weather looks for you guys. For now, I will just tell you how much I love these shoes. I found the company, Nisolo, on an Instagram rabbit trail. Similar to some other companies I love, they believe in transparency in they way they run their business, in other words, no sketchy sweatshops with underage workers. It’s a side of fast fashion that none of us want to think about, but we can’t afford to ignore. Scooping up fast-fashion clothing has long been my approach to dressing myself, but over the last few years I have been slowly changing my ways. I now read labels, and purpose and plan to buy fewer, but better, beautifully-made items. This allows me to be more choosy about my selection. I find I’d rather take my budget of $XX and apply it to one or two nice items, instead of binging on as many items as possible. But the best part of planning and choosing wisely – I tend to really love my items, and that brings contentment instead of a wandering eye for more.
But seriously, these shoes are amazingly comfortable, and I am tellin’ ya’ll, huaraches are the shoe of the summer. Other than our beloved Birks of course. ;)
TGIF!
